    Pros

    The facilities we have access to in the Dept of Horticulture at WSU are extensive and diverse including research orchards across the state, spacious and well-equipped fruit and vegetable storage facilities and sophisticated genomics laboratories.

    Cons

    Pullman is a wonderful place to live; there is nothing like living in a true college town. Seclusion can be an issue and many find living so far from major cities to be an issue.

    Learn to persevere in a negative work environment.

    Cons

    Expected to work 24/7, very little support for a post-doc trying to develop their career or learn about grant-writing process. No encouragement for career growth beyond "get the work done". Low salaries, middle of nowhere. Poor technical support.
