I worked at Washington State University for less than a year

    Pros

Position was flexible and encouraged growth. My skill set improved dramatically in the for-credit student position. Opportunities for conducting self-made experiments, presenting research data and contributing to all stages of the research process were encouraged, with assistance always available. Overall, it was a fantastic experience in a wonderfully welcoming department that I will always encourage others to pursue.

    Cons

As my position was an undergraduate student position, my view on the university as a whole was limited. Sometimes the work was just "busy work" as experiments were limited to ones that had already been IRB approved. Some of the days went slower than others, but the vast majority of my time spent in the lab was enjoyable and highly educational.
