I worked at Washington Trust Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Amazing people, good pay, great benefits. Wonderful leadership to help you grow. And obviously banker's hours.

    Cons

Dealing with clients can be hard. But then again, customer service is not my jam. They were also trying to keep up with other banks by going beyond banking. That got a little annoying.

    Advice to Management

    Stick to banking.

    Pros

Massive control in the field. Great leadership team and mission to serve clients yet large enough to fund large deals/requests. CEO Pete Stanton and President Jack Heath are a dream team!

    Cons

    Very little to complain about...

I have been working at Washington Trust Bank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Four generations of family ownership creates a warm and caring culture. There is a focus on hiring and promoting young millennial employees as successors to long-term current people. I feel empowered to do my job. We all have a chance to help out in the community with Marketing to do fun things to help small businesses, elderly, charitable organizations etc in our communities. We celebrate our accomplishments as a team and have fun working here.

    Cons

Nothing that I can think of. Banking is highly regulated so sometimes that can be a pain, but that's not the bank's fault.

    Advice to Management

Continue to reward employees like you do and keep the fun environment going. We love the celebrations and recognition by upper management that are happening!

I worked at Washington Trust Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good company culture. Nice co-workers ; lunch room and and coffee machine.

    Cons

Very hard to get promotion unless you area best friend of the manager. People get targeted( fired or leaving) just because they need to bring their friends on a board. Pay is low and not enough buddies for a work load. H.R Dept. does not get involved even after multiple complains.

    Advice to Management

Do not let knowledgeable people leave because of one person wants to rule.

    Pros

Privately owned; excellent reputation in the market place. Assess ability to Executive management. As a seasoned executive the opportunity to mentor and develop younger professionals is a plus. Strong culture.
