I have been working at Washington University in St. Louis full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are excellent. 22 Days Vacation. Very good health care coverage. Tuition assistance for employees. Tuition coverage for qualified dependents.

    Cons

Low salary. Very bureaucratic. Very few people leave WU which makes it very static. Promotions are difficult to obtain in my department.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to find ways to promote and pay younger employees faster and more in line with other competitors in the area.

I have been working at Washington University in St. Louis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits, beautiful campus, generally nice colleagues

    Cons

It really depends on who you work under. I know colleagues who work under awful Researchers and administrators but then move departments and end up loving it. Their family leave policy is something to be desired considering all the other work life balance/ family benefits they offer

    Advice to Management

WashU can be tricky as it really depends on who you work for and what department you're in that determine your upward mobility or your quality of work life. Its hard to make a blanket statement about management when the school operates in a very decentralized manner. I've had a phenomenal experience with my managers but I know thats not the case with others in different departments.

I have been working at Washington University in St. Louis full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great vacation, healthcare and sick leave policy. Pay is competitive

    Cons

Parking is terrible and costs too much. Multiple locations to navigate throughout the various offices and other campus around the city.

    Advice to Management

Free parking for all full time employees. Have same full-time status for all. Ensure safety around the train stations and increase the number of patrols on campus.

I have been working at Washington University in St. Louis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A collaborative friendly environment which values diversity. One of the best universities to get your Ph.D. Outstanding Medical School which ranks #3 nationwide.

    Cons

There aren't any cons really, apart from the huge construction going on. Expect a pretty busy campus (Danforth); it's a little complicated adventure to reach to a certain building.

    Advice to Management

We hope to get our trees back. Please be open to student queries. Danforth Campus needs more cafeterias. I wish each building had its own library.
