I worked at Waste Connections full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule and perks as long as you are needed.

    Cons

If you're not part of the drinking group they don't care for you. Bad manager. Horrible leadership that has no clue what being a servant leader is. As long as you do his dirty work (aka: work he has no clue how to do himself) you're good.

    Advice to Management

Stop delegating, and start showing your people that you aren't there to just kick your feet up and travel. Learn to communicate and stop playing favorites. Make sure you're "managers" know what servant leadership is since that's all I heard the entire time I was there.

I worked at Waste Connections full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The drivers are a great group of people.

    Cons

The management is terrible. They do not offer a consistent training program and change the rules constantly, they do not write policies and then hold you accountable for making the best decision when challenged, they encourage "gray areas" by example, they discriminate, they flat out lie, they say things over and over to make them seem real or true, they bend circumstances to their advantage, they will step on you to save themselves.

    Advice to Management

The entire management team for LeMay Pierce County Refuse should be removed and replaced. The staff size of 14 should be increased to twice as many. When you stress your employees to the maximum level that they do you can guarantee that stress will bleed over to your customers. Be more aware even if it means your customers have no choice in their garbage service. Be human because it is not all about numbers.

I have been working at Waste Connections full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I like the people I work with. Management is not controlling in every aspect of job but are accessible when needed.

    Cons

Constantly short handed. Trucks break down, which is unavoidable to some degree. Dependable service is very inconsistent. It's a constant effort to bring in new customers to replace those lost to poor service.
I sell based on price alone because I feel I can't honestly sell on quality service.

    Advice to Management

Company would be better served to focus on customer retention and building from there.
This would be a very good company to work for if our service level was where it needed to be.
