I have been working at Waste Management full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Steady work, 10 days paid time off, benefits offered

    Cons

Paid time off is for sick time too, so if you get the flu really bad- no vacation this year! Insurance offered could be WAY better coverage.

    Advice to Management

Rewarding employees works! Thank you'd are appreciated too.

I have been working at Waste Management full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Employment opportunities within.
    System for management and drivers.
    Software.
Local Regional Office for: dispatch, IT, HR, etc.

    Cons

    Nothing major.

Just seems to be multiple software platforms for management to not only pull data from, but to manage the day-to-day.

    Advice to Management

    Only positive advice:

Thanks for providing everyone an opportunity should they pursue it.

Lastly, for having safe procedures that are mandated daily at the local level. Just the phenomenal decline in the amount of incidents since the M2Z goal was launched, shows the commitment level for this organization!

I have been working at Waste Management full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

New CEO is not only an incredibly intelligent and savvy businessman, he is a good and kind man. In general, WM takes care of their people and their stockholders. Most employees are down to earth, friendly, and hardworking.

    Cons

It is a big company, so there is a certain amount of lack of flexibility and responsiveness that comes with all large organizations.

    Advice to Management

No advice, because from what I can see, Jim Fish is an amazing CEO, Jim Trevathan is an excellent executive, Harry Lamberton, is terrific, and Eric Dixon is top notch. However WM managed to hire and keep such an extraordinary group of people to run the business, their system works. It is really rewarding working for managers who are not only skilled and intelligent business people, but more importantly, are fundamentally decent and good-hearted people.

I have been working at Waste Management full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, and decent equipment. The best thing about WM is their commitment to safety on the job and performing quality repairs. Also, there is never a shortage of hours. Unless you're at a union shop, you'll never have a problem making your overtime.

    Cons

Usually every shop is under-staffed. The workload is unbelievable and the operations side is always breathing down your neck to get more done in less time. If you're not ready to work, don't apply to WM.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to your lower level employees. They are more aware of the issues than you think and could have good ideas and solutions to make this company run better.
