I worked at Waterbury Hospital (More than a year)

    Pros

Satisfying work experience as a psychiatric nurse.

    Cons

Issues at the end related to family situation.

    Advice to Management

I didn't reveal my inner feelings because I was burned out and there were personal reasons as well. Nobody cared enough to help me when I had a good work record for 27 years. I was actually set up and was accused of two things that I didn't do. I have a clean and perfect license and helped the hospital a year before with a potential law suit. My charting was accurate and thorough for the reason their potential law suite was cancelled.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Waterbury Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    excellent salary and benefits

    Cons

Due to recent State Medicaid budget cuts and funding, our Department may be outsourced and portions of our department are being replaced by electronic /automated methods so positions are going to be eliminated.

    Advice to Management

If an employee has gotten coding credentials please advocate and encourage that employee instead of ignoring their educational accomplishments and hiring people with no credentials or career potential.

I worked at Waterbury Hospital full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Doctors are fantastic to work with and for most of the time, everywhere you go you get bad apples.

    Cons

Pay is low, management is clueless and pretends way to much. Whistle while you work attitude and you get to keep your job.

    Advice to Management

Actually listen to your employed and stop the BS training. Perhaps you should stop laying the little guy off and start with the clueless people on the forth floor.

I have been working at Waterbury Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family atmosphere. Everyone knows each other and greets you with a warm smile and a hello. Managment, staff and faculty are very professional and willing to help each other out.

    Cons

Health benefits are great, but paid time off could be more substantial. With such little paid time, employees tend to burn out because there is not enough time given to recharge.

    Advice to Management

Create a more equal benefit package for non-union employees.

I have been working at Waterbury Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There really are no pros since Prospect bought the hospital. Between the mandatory biometric screenings or penalty to insurance to an environment with no morale. It's only surviving because employees have genuine desire to help and heal.

    Cons

Numerous cons; high cost mediocre coverage for insurance, auto enrolled all employees in 401k and doesn't match, little to no raises for non-union employees. When there are raises its 2% for everyone except administration who gets 20%

    Advice to Management

Advice to management is create an environment that promotes growth and advancement. Don't wait until a department is transient before evaluating wages. It's cheaper and more beneficial keeping quality employees who do the job well rather then constantly training a new employee every few months
