I have been working at Waterloo Gardens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The co-workers were some of the best in the world. It was like working with your family - in the good way.

    Cons

The end of the "ride" was stressful and sad. So sorry that the business could not be saved but all good things must come to an end.

I worked at Waterloo Gardens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Colleagues were always friendly. The events were always interesting. If you want to spend your days in a greenhouse or around knick knacks, it's a nice place to work. Working at Waterloo Gardens is a great conversation starter.

    Cons

It suffered from the usual troubles that go along with a family run business transitioning from one generation to the next. If you have expectations of developing a marketable skill set, you might be disappointed.

    Advice to Management

    Sell the company.

    Pros

gorgeous plants and all the hard to find extras. beautiful surroundings and lots to catch your eye. family owned and cared about. a great opportunity to polish your skills in different areas.

    Cons

pay and benefits aren't great unless you've been there forever and a day. it's an up scale garden/gift center and sometimes the customers leave quite a bit to be desired. they are catered to and the employee is always wrong.

    Advice to Management

family shows some favoritism, but you'll have that. arrogance from time to time. please allow the employee a fair shot of redemption. open up your lines of communication and don't rely on it filtering down to the masses. loved the matriarch, Linda- wow!
