    Pros

    -I love my co-workers
    -Lots of training opportunities

    Cons

-Salary does not match work load
-As they get larger they are cutting back on some of the things that made it SPECIAL to work here... feels a lot like profits over people now.

I have been working at Watkins Wellness full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Making the world pretty hot tubs just isn’t worth your dignity and your soul. You'll be sucked into a vortex of vindictive ineptness. But if that's your jam....that's a pro.

    Cons

The culture is bizarrely oppressive, with the executive team largely made up of WASPs and one female whose claim to fame is targeting employees she doesn't like, derailing careers and driving out those who want to innovate or challenge 'how we do things'. Very few on the executive team have worked outside of Watkins and as a result have almost no perspective. They’ve gotten away with atrocious, discriminatory, retaliatory behavior for decades. Any ethical complaints against the executive team or culture, while ‘investigated’, are swept under the rug, with the remaining employees suffering the wrath of those who spoke up against the discriminatory behaviors of the leadership team in the first place. This place is a mess.

I have been working at Watkins Wellness full-time

    Pros

    - Good work/life balance
    - People are genuinely nice to each other
    - Fairly extensive training offerings
    - Good bonus plan
    - Strong company performance

    Cons

    - Very limited opportunities for advancement
    - Slow to progress/stuck in old ways (lots of things are very manual/done on paper, resistance to/unsure how to automate things, technical skills vary greatly but are generally pretty low)
    - Not terribly competitive base salary
    - Very few opportunities to socialize with coworkers outside of your department

    Advice to Management

Don't rely on reasoning along the lines of "because that's how we have always done it"

I have been working at Watkins Wellness full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are at a point in your career where you want to challenge your capabilities, then look for a company on a growth trajectory. When you find it, evaluate the company for whether your role will be integral to that growth. My hunch is you'll find both growth and opportunity to showcase your talents at Watkins. It's a great time to be part of this fast-growing and very relevant business. We have a mission to promote well-being through aquatic fitness and hydrotherapy. People need what our products deliver now more than ever. These are exciting times for the company and the buzz in the building reflects that.

    Cons

We are growing fast and we continue to set goals just a smidge past our reach. It's part of our culture to be high achievers. Some people do not thrive in that type of environment so be thoughtful about whether you are cut out for stretching yourself. The rewards are big when we hit our goals and that's where you'll find that your work was worth the effort. This is not even really a con when it comes down to it. We work hard alongside smart and goal-oriented team members. We're all in this together, working to outperform our past results. There are plenty of companies where you'd be hard-pressed to find that "we're in it together" spirit. So that's really a plus when it comes down to it.

    Advice to Management

Keep your focus on hiring the very best talent for the job and doing the right things to keep people engaged, rewarded and recognized. The people really do make the difference here. Talent + effort + vision = our long-term success. As an employee here for more than 5 years, I continue to be grateful for the opportunities, appreciative of the training and resources, and humbled by how far I still have to go in my own development here among so many talented folks. I appreciate that I am at a workplace that values me and gives me opportunities to excel.
