I have been working at Waukesha Bearings full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Manufacturing engineers work closely with the manufacturing floor personnel and it didn't appear to have the disconnect like many other places have between management and the hourly worker. Workers appear to genuinely enjoy coming to work.

    Cons

If working on the manufacturing floor the job does involve some heavy lifting. At the time there where also no windows to the floor so it was extremely dark inside the floor with no natural light.

I worked at Waukesha Bearings full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Solid product offering. Few competitors in the markets they serve. Even minimal effort will make you stand out from your peers. Very flat organization with a lack of red tape to make changes.

    Cons

It is all about pleasing Dover Corporate (the parent company) at all costs each quarter to avoid Dover Big Brother. Meetings openly speculate on strategy to keep Dover focused on the other 32 operating companies and avoid the spotlight. Like many publicly traded companies, WBC needs to meet quarterly numbers and will slow pay invoices, bank inventory that could be shipped, make ad hoc headcount cuts, and promote a constant...

    Advice to Management

Leave your personal issues at home and show professionalism befitting a Fortune 500. Invest in training your people and not gimmicks like mini-basketball hoops and $3,000 glass whiteboards.

    Pros

Top of the industry products with solid market share. Informal working environment. Good benefits and work-life balance.

    Cons

Too much exposure to the energy and oil&gas industries. Not uniform organizational culture across business units.

I worked at Waukesha Bearings full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Liked my manager, nice office, kept technology up to date. Was there a long time and could have been a job for life

    Cons

Big turnover in management, lots of redundancies, no career progression. Lean is a major hindrance in actually doing your job. Frustrating!

    Advice to Management

Stop the churn of employees by giving them chances to progress. Treated employees really badly during lay offs

    Pros

Engineering oriented company. Is the #1 in sliding bearing industrial. , very friendly environment , nice potential for growth, both company wise or personal career wise
