I worked at Waukesha Electric Systems (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, mediocre benefits, employees make this place run. You could remove nearly all management and as long as your logistics are still in place, it would run flawlessly. Production employees are constantly catching engineering errors.

    Cons

No advancement. Most management clueless. If employees don't catch engineering errors they are reprimanded. There are a lot of engineering errors.

    Advice to Management

Learn about a field before you try to manage it. Playing golf with the big dogs does not make a good manager.

I worked at Waukesha Electric Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The Company had a good PTO program along with some other decent benefits.

    Cons

The HR Department was horrible. I saw many individuals in the Department doing things they have been charged with trying to prevent from happening to their employees. I see some of these people are still there and need to be let go.

    Advice to Management

You can't expect people to follow common HR practices when rules are being broken by HR.

    Pros

Nice co-workers in similar tough place to work. Seems like employees are watching management remove what made the company a good place to work. Misery loves company. Company used to be a joy to be a part of; this changed as the economy turned south.

    Cons

The performance of the company, tough economic environment with increased competition, pending layoffs, no growth opportunities

    Advice to Management

Communicate with employees to reduce rumor mill, stop sending mix messages, stop placing individuals in important positions that are not qualified to lead. Remember that employees are the most important asset of the company.
