Cons

  • For instance, if you are more than 15 seconds late from the start of your shift, a break or lunch, you get marked for a tardy (in 4 reviews)

    Pros

    Extremely intelligent, helpful, competent people.

    Cons

Acquisition environment is stressful, cost- cutting makes meeting goals a challenge, acknowledged under-staffing makes it hard to get things done quickly. Pay is relatively low

    Advice to Management

Lowered stress levels means better work output from employees; better compensation ultimate results in better productivity.

I worked at Wave Broadband full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Lots of hours to work.

    Cons

Executives have the mindset of making money over everything...this company chews through lower level employees because of it.

    Advice to Management

Sell the company. Cable TV is going the way of the dinosaur. Treat your employees with some respect, because they are the people making those dollars for your company.

I worked at Wave Broadband full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Got to experience a lot of new things in the business world. People getting fired left and right while everyone else is trying to find new jobs elsewhere, so there is a lot of opportunity. If you are naturally optimistic, your manager will have you write a positive review on Glassdoor. I got to see great examples of terrible leadership, so as to not make the same mistake with my staff in the future.

    Cons

Low pay for anyone under VP title.
    Command / positional leadership only
Company has brought in a liquidation CEO to sell the company. Company was majority held by an equity firm that wanted to get out. Brought on current CEO to cut and abuse operations to show better bottom line. Plant and system is in terrible shape due to lack of system tech to maintain its integrity.
Many VP titles and project managers have been hired in and are either throw aways from other companies or personal friends of such and such. They do not understand their own position. Only place I have been verbally abused by C level management when they could not understand their own team's analysis or their projections.

    Advice to Management

Clean house on the operations side of people sitting in Kirkland. They are completely out of touch with their teams and simply keep firing great staff that understand your company and what you are trying to do. The staff they are saving are the 'yes' men and women that have no idea how to do their jobs but can kiss rear well.

I have been working at Wave Broadband full-time

    Pros

There really are no Pro's. They have no leadership at this company. There are many Managers and Supervisors, but zero leaders.

    Cons

The pay is extremely below market value and it is across the board below average. The executives - non-leaders - have hefty bonuses and they push their subordinates beyond the limit with mandatory overtime and no time off. There is sickness that sweeps through the company, everything from cold and flu to heart attacks. When you call in sick, within two weeks you are terminated.

    Advice to Management

It would be nice to have management at this company

    Pros

Up and coming company with a vision. Work from home/field

    Cons

Growing pains much like you'd find in a start up.

    Pros

Freedom of working from home. Professional workforce

    Cons

little promotions or hires from within, unachievable incentive plans, inefficiencies, acquisitions, buyouts.

    Advice to Management

Find a direction and get everyone on board. Reward those who work hard.

I have been working at Wave Broadband full-time

    Pros

The company offers some pretty great benefits, with a great health care package. Being a younger company, there is a lot of room for growth and is nice to see the company constantly expanding their service area.

    Cons

There seems to be a lot of overtime, at least in the Seattle area. And the pay isn't up to par with the other telecom companies in the area.

I have been working at Wave Broadband full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free soda. Floor reps are generally nice and easy going

    Cons

    Literally everything else.

The pay is a joke, and makes living anywhere nearby literally impossible (good luck earning more than $15 an hour unless you've worked call centers for 10+ years!)

The holy "$500/month" extra bonus is impossible to get. With the person who QA's calls outright admitting that nobody has gotten that in months

You can lose half your bonus in one day just by being more than 15 seconds late back from a break. Literally 1 minute out of schedule and you lose up to $250

Supervisors are malicious and distrustful and will micromanage you into the ground

No possibility of advancement. Tier 2 reps get no extra money, and team leads have to quit for more positions to open up

Tech support is a meat grinder for employees. Training usually has at least 60% of the people in it leave before they even finish the one month training

There's so few employees that getting anything done for a customer is impossible. Want a tech out to your house? enjoy a 5 day waiting period!

Any time anything breaks. Phones go off the hook with customers waiting over 30 minutes usually to be told about it

Place is falling apart. Air conditioners don't work properly, desks are dirty and dusty and covered in food crumbs

Doing the right thing is punished for taking so much time, instead of taking as many calls as possible

    Advice to Management

You've created literally the perfect storm of awful place to work. You don't have enough people anywhere, and you can't train them fast enough to fix that

You wont pay employees what they're worth and they leave within weeks

Your supervisors are all sociopath monsters because they're the only ones who can survive such a TOXIC culture!

I worked at Wave Broadband full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work from home? They set you up w a good home office... They have somehow managed to hang onto couple of really good people here and there, so you can learn a lot from.them if you can find them

    Cons

Everything else? Low pay and some of the most ignorant, most incompetent, disorganized, and unprofessional clowns Ive ever met. anti-innovation, anti-intellectual. Zero employee development. "What do you need a raise for? Just work more.overtime!" No reviews, no feedback, no raises, no bonuses. So as the cost of living rises and your income stagnates, you actually earn less every year as your skill and experience increase.

    Advice to Management

Panic and bluster are.not management strategies. Age <> experience <> competence.
