Wave sold it's soul to RCN and is no longer "world class" anything
Aug 1, 2019 - Anonymous in Bothell, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Easy to get hired on, no experience is needed and it shows. free service if you live on their small footprint
Cons
So many to list. Turnover is high, no communication and all of upper management has been pruned and their duties outsourced!

Look - Everybody is leaving - Running out of money.
Sep 17, 2015 - Installer in Woodburn, ORRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
No overtime anymore. Always new faces due to high turnover.
Cons
Lack of vision from the CEO. Lack of necessary tools and equipment to do the job correctly. ALWAYS out of materials. No room for advancement or significant pay raises. Useless new upper management team all trying to make everything exactly like Comcast. Maybe soon they will get bought out by their nemesis.

Good company going through growing pains
Apr 17, 2018 - Network Engineer in Kirkland, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Small teams so you are allowed to work with a lot of different technologies however that is rapidly changing as the company is growing fast. Flexible work hours. Due to the quick growth there is a lot of opportunities to advance within the company.
Cons
Due to the rapid growth there are a lot of unknowns and new processes that keep getting implemented, however those new processes don't always get implemented correctly. Pay is a little under industry standard and it seems they expect you to do more work due to the smaller team sizes as well. Upper management likes to butt heads a lot which makes it very difficult to get a clear direction from them.

Company seems to be going through some issues
Sep 25, 2015 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Well established company with significant capital to grow and improve. Building fiber and manages the network end-to-end, the gigabit internet product is amazing.
Cons
Everything seems to take unbelievably long. The group I work with has little accountability, does not provide much training, and can't seem to get out of their own way. Company is going through integration of acquisitions and it is a mess. I expect a mass culling of upper management within a year.

Gone down the dump
Dec 3, 2021 - Anonymous Employee in Seattle, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Hard to get fired. Literally you can do almost anything and not get fired there. There is little to no accountability on any level. Easy paycheck. Some nice people. They are desperate for employees so getting hired should be a breeze if you are just looking for "a paycheck and steady work".
Cons
Horrible management, especially that of Washington state. HR is a mess. No support or resources to teams in need. Ownership has changed handful of times, each time it gets a little worse. Upper management really not present or supportive. A lot of talk, no real action. Bunch of pointless 'team' meetings and videos to watch in which everyone is treated like a football player and the CEO is the 'coach' or the 'commissioner'...but nothing really gets done and it's all just a bunch of talk. Literally they make NFL themed videos and force employees to watch them to 'keep up to date' with the workings of the company.

Great opportunity to grow

I stayed with them for nearly two years and the upper management was very understanding to their employees mental health. They also help you develop your skills .
Cons
Work life balance can be challenging.

Fiber Construction lead
Jan 25, 2018 - Fiber Lead in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great Employees that are doing there best to make this company work.
Cons
Low pay, poor benefits, Wave was sold to RCN for $2.84 Billion, upper management had the nerve to tell us that they did so well that we will get $100.00 dollars.included in are check, but after taxes we will get $45.00 plus they are a holding company. If I have to survey a site during construction I have to use my own vehicle and if it breaks down oh well Welcome to Wave broadband now go kick rocks!!!!!

Good place to get in the door, but get out as soon as you know what you're doing
May 26, 2015 - Network Support Technician in Kirkland, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Will hire people off the street with little to no experience (on the tech/engineering and customer support side) - There are people there who are willing to impart their (in some instances vast) knowledge of telco/broadband systems upon you. As long as you're positive and willing to learn, you can get a lot of good experience - just don't expect it to get you anywhere in the company - Nice building in Kirkland, clean environment - Decent benefits - There are good people there - The sales/marketing teams are really happy (because they get paid and direct policy within the company)
Cons
- Poor pay - No real room to advance - Technical/Engineering & customer support employees are treated like slave labor - the general attitude from management is 'be thankful for having a job' - So much political drama in the upper regions of management, unprofessionalism, two-faced attitudes and disrespect for lower employees - The management brushes off concerns of employees from the tech/engineering side of things - There are a lot of people who don't know what they're doing with too much influence/power. Unfortunately, the people who know what they are doing are not in management roles

Pros
The people in your immediate vicinity will become like family to you.
Cons
The reason the people around you become like family is because you are all so severely underpaid that you connect in the fact that you are not valued by the upper management or the company itself. Also, company will not provide a company car or money for maintenance of personal vehicles used to drive over 100 miles per site visit (this issue is not unique to IT Administrators) The pay is atrocious The scope of your job will CONSTANTLY change If you start to speak out about unfairness you *will* be blackballed
