I worked at Wave Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wave engineers developed great technology, product roadmap, and vision. The company had a base of loyal employees and multiple products with high profit margins and strong market demand.

    Cons

Bill Solms had no corporate experience and proved himself to be a completely incapable of functioning in either a sales or management position.

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately it's too late now. The VPs should have told the board to look more closely at Bill Solms, particularly his unexplained absences, erratic behavior, and total inability to make decisions.

I worked at Wave Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked for the company for about 2 years. The company was in the process of expanding. Buying other companies and expanding sales into other countries

    Cons

management lacks quality cohesiveness. company is reactive instead of proactive. Overextend Sales and did not generate new sales which lead to company wide instability and downsizing.

    No opportunities for professional growth.

    Advice to Management

Need to return to a stable product and grow slowly

I worked at Wave Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits plan.
Lots of people come to work late and leave early.
Some really solid, seasoned software engineers.

    Cons

Non-competitive compensation with regards to perks, stock options, salary, get-togethers 401k matching... pretty much everything.
Lots of people come to work late and leave early.
Too many layoffs and reorganizations; morale is extremely low. The company is bleeding employees on a regular basis.

I have been working at Wave Systems full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible work hours, inclined to adopt new Microsoft technologies, many good working engineers to develop into lasting working relationships.

    Cons

Communication problems exists within group in same geographical location, let a lone different locations. Managers do not share the same goals, are not working for the good of the company.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should talk to engineers more often. Get briefed from engineers as well, not just direct reporting managers.

I have been working at Wave Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good people working on interesting technology. Before the lay-offs started in Nov 2012, the work environment was excellent.

    Cons

Company seems to have a serious cash problem and keeps laying people off. Constant restructuring in a desperate attempt to save the ship.
Core product, Embassy Remote Administration Server (ERAS), competes with Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring (MBAM). Not sure how to convince customers to buy ERAS if they have MBAM on Windows Server. Not sure if many people care if their drive encryption is hardware or software based.

    Advice to Management

Has buying SafeEnd or pursuing projects like Scrambls generated any income or has Wave been spending too much money without any return?

There are some good people in the company

    Cons

They don't have the right people at the right position so it is hard to deliver a high quality product.
At times the management is not very receptive to idea.

    Advice to Management

Need to be more focus on the finance and make sure the company can survive while creating all those interesting products.
