I have been working at Wawa part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I gave my GM my schedule for this semester, but then I realized I wouldn't be able to work as much as I said I could. She understood and lowered my hours, which is really awesome.

    Cons

Sometimes there is drama and it can be stressful when customers are upset but that is expected in every customer service job.

I worked at Wawa full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great pay, excellent retirement package, great customers, and staff (fluctuates by area), tuition reimbursement, health insurance available (although pricey), Good Life insurance, Great Credit Union, Ability to Move up, Presidents Club, Bonuses, Wellness Iniatives

    Cons

Poor Work life balance, Too much politics in Upper Management(Wawa has been known for this), A lot of pressure is put store operations versus corporate, bonus structure CAN be unfair based on the Area Manager, Favortism, Stressful environment, HR process is not confidential,

    Advice to Management

Bad Area Managers have ruined the careers of good, store level managers and below for many years with no questions asked. Wawa has lost many qualified people due to gossip, favoritism, and poor judgment. Once your AM wants you gone, your done - no matter how good you are, despite your love for the company, or value you bring to Wawa. Perhaps exit interviews should be conducted on all Managers resignations, terminations, and retirements! I believe it will ensure fairness on all positions and add a checks and balances on each management position as well as the HR process. I feel HR too is broken! Mostly due to human nature, however HR makes Judgement based on friendships not work that's performed. HR process is NOT confidential when gossips work in that department. They need to be held accountable as the entire company knows this, Especially anyone that has had any issues and utilized HR. It immediately becomes apparent that nothing is sacred when you have any kind of investigation in your store. The employees know this and have strong distrust of the HR department company wide. I'd rate Career Opportunities a 5 Star but I couldn't because you're as good as long as you don't get AMs that dislike you for unknown reasons. I for one planned to retire with Wawa. I was a GM for 5+years of a busy fuel stOre but one person changed all that

I worked at Wawa part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You're always busy doing something. There's room for advancement if you want to move up to a management position.

    Cons

The store never closes regardless of weather conditions. You have to find coverage if you're unable to work shift & must inform manager 4 hours in advanced. I was held back from becoming shift manager at my location when the new general manager started.

    Advice to Management

Inform employee who want to move up in management why they're not going to the management class. Do your best to help that employee reach their goal. Compliment your employees every once in a while with the great job they're doing.
