I worked at Wawa full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

If you like fast pace like me this is a good place to work. However you get some lazy people who can make the job more demanding.

    Cons

The corporate staff is out of touch with store operations. A big problem is they make people GM's of stores when they aren't qualified to fill the walk-in cooler. They cut labor hours and expect the same results. Store survey they offer to customers is not consistent. I go into my local Wawa at least 3 times a week and have never been offered to fill out a survey (Blue Bell).

    Advice to Management

If you are an area manger or above please get into reality, store conditions can't be perfect like you expect.

I have been working at Wawa full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is good an a weekly check

    Cons

Favoritism my hiring manager was great gave people who wanted to work hours. While now this new manager brings people from their old store an gives them hours but not the people that was already in the store.

    Advice to Management

Be fair an give everyone reasonable hours if their not managers they shouldn't be getting 39-40 hours each week.

I have been working at Wawa full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

To be honest, the company itself is great. The people, the experience, and everything in between has allowed me to grow and build on leadership skills. The management experience is rough but rewarding, so if you're in it for the money you'll need to learn to how to hang on.

    Cons

The operations end of the company is trying to evolve at a remarkable pace to keep up with the competition. The work life balance is what you make it, but on average I found myself working 50-60 hours on salary. The values they promote are at face value.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. That magic touch that the company had 10 years ago has kinda faded as the company attempts to become more of a McDonalds.

I have been working at Wawa full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company is incredible with amazing benefits.
Employee Stock Ownership Plan is second to none
    Vacation time

    Cons

    Degrading job
Associates do not respect management as everyone is looked at on the same level.
Consistent time and attendance issues run rampant across many stores.
Expected to do run the store on bare bones labor consistently.
Constantly running short as associates are always late or do not show up.

    Advice to Management

If you want to compare yourself to the likes of Chick Fil A and Chipotle, you need to invest in labor to ensure you have the proper amount of people to provide incredible customer service. It's extremely hard to run an entire gas store with 3-4 associates and still provide world class customer service.
