I have been working at Wawa part-time

    Pros

Great company values, great benefits, the company itself seems to really care about employees.

    Cons

Management at the store level is poorly monitored for quality. Managers delegate all tasks to associates, blatantly ignore company policies resulting in miserable experiences for lower staff.

    Advice to Management

Look at more than just sales when evaluating stores performance. Monitor turnover for issues in associate conditions.

I worked at Wawa full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits. 401k. Good associates and i loved all the customers. They made my day. I met great people. Good values and great ceo. Good job chris.

    Cons

Boss was extremely rude and demanding and put heavy workload on people that dont say no. Stressful. Hard to move up. Had to put orders away with only 2 other people and if something wasnt done i was told to stay late every day.

    Advice to Management

Remember we have our own lives and deserve respect and as a former manager i can say i was treated like total crap. Worked 4 years and trained most managers who were moved up before me. Stop feeding into associate gossip. Focus on the job at hand and making the community better.

I have been working at Wawa full-time

    Pros

Some of the customers are the best you'll ever meet
The benefits are also very good

    Cons

Some of the customers are the worst you'll ever meet
3rd shift isn't natural for people to work all the time, non stop and it's starting to wear me down

    Advice to Management

Please value your people more, a lot of people tell me, who have been working for Wawa for a long time say Wawa use to be a lot of fun and they genuinely cared about the people. Today they tell me, it's hard to get through most days and the "caring" comes off very superficial and fake. Get back to made Wawa great, I think they are starting to only focus on how much money they can make which is obvious since the food quality is going downhill

I have been working at Wawa full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great starting wage minimum ($10 in FL)
    - Great benefits package
    - Plenty of opportunities of advancement, including outside of the store
    - People that end up staying are usually down to earth and sensible
    - Employee Stock Program
    - Unique point rewards system with company merchandise as prizes
    - Values certain successful personality traits in associates

    Cons

    - Can be a little too idealistic with expectations from associates and management
    - Very difficult for management to hold associates accountable
    - Lower volume stores struggle to have new associates complete training program or in the correct manner
    - Values customers to the point of devaluing the associates' experience

    Advice to Management

Wawa is a challenging company to work for. Managing your team requires you to put your heart and soul into it, and in turn, the associates will believe in your cause. Don't forget to act with compassion and let your associates into your head.

I worked at Wawa part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Flexibility in schedule
    -Decent benefits
    -Decent Pay

    Cons

    -High Stress
    -Little Appreciation
    -Constant Inter-shift tension
    -High Turn-Over
-Hours Are Not Fixed and are Dependent on “business needs” rather than what you may need to work
-“Top Heavy” management - their is management for everything, yet no one seems to know what to do

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Practice what you preach “value people” value your employees. Hire quality people, and Treat them well and they will treat you well. It should be unacceptable to have stores that turn over 30% of their employees.
Stop running the company only from “Red Roof”. The “process engineers” and inspectors have mostly never worked in the stores-we used to get “plan-o-gram” designs that were required to be followed that weren’t even physicaly posible given the store layout/resources available...etc
