I have been working at Wawa full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedules, decent pay for the amount of work required, stock ownership program, and management generally has your back with rude customers. Excellent career advancement, but only if you work inside.

    Cons

The biggest con is lack of communication. I can't tell you the number of times I've heard about things that would affect my store - and even my job! - secondhand through gossip. Management seems to get emails with updates, but they don't share; why not put this information on the store intranet?

Also, very few options for career advancement, at least on the fuel court. The Fuel Manager position was removed from my store (maybe from the entire company?) shortly before I was hired, so unless you're willing to transfer inside, you're going to be stuck as a fuel associate. Even those who have additional responsibilities (blue book, for instance) don't get compensated more.

    Advice to Management

Please communicate more. I would like the information available on the store intranet, but even a printout about upcoming changes posted in the break room would be preferable to being given no warning before something happens.

I have been working at Wawa part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wawa takes care of their employees and makes sure everyone has a safe work environment.

    Cons

Customers can be rude but that shouldn't change anyone's attitude towards other customers.

    Advice to Management

Even when people below management aren't doing what they are supposed to, always be the lead example so they will look up to you.

    I worked at Wawa full-time

    Pros

I worked overnights. Pros about overnights are more money and you get to interact with the customers. I worked register so I was always face to face. Benefits.

    Cons

Customers personalities some very pleasant and others not so pleasant. Disorganized, lack of communication.

    Advice to Management

Overall good but its not a perfect company and its a lot of work that could be done and done better.

I worked at Wawa part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

High pay rate, company stock, great health benefits, paycheck every week, free coffee and fountain soda, 50% off healthy Wawa food

    Cons

Very little sick/vacation hours, stores never close, little break time if any, unless someone is stealing bad workers never get fired, discount only on Wawa food & only when working

    Advice to Management

Hold bad workers accountable. Change the PTO time so employees can get more vacation/sick time, give a discount off all food/drinks not just Wawa food

I have been working at Wawa part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You don't have to worry about what to wear
You get a discount on food while at work
    Somewhat of a flexible schedule
    Free uniforms twice a year

    Cons

They rotate managers more often than I change my socks. Occasionally you'll get a good one; most times you won't
Very little opportunity to get ahead. They tell you they promote from within but in a year I've only met two managers of any level that worked their way up. MOST are directly hired as managers from other companies.
You'll mostly be working with irresponsible kids and some really lazy, useless managers - one I work with is 23 an I had a GM who was 29
You'll be dealing with a lot of rude customers who leave complete messes you'll be cleaning up constantly
On your feet 8 hours a day, sometimes not getting a break for 6 hours
No stock options or benefits unless you meet the requirements - good luck with that.
Raises are 25 cents if you're lucky.

    Advice to Management

VALUE your employees. No Christmas bonuses for people that work like slaves to make you millions of dollars?
Make benefits and other supposed perks more easily accessible to obtain.
Pay a living wage! Maybe a kid in high school who just needs beer money could live off what you pay.

I worked at Wawa full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and weekly pay. Good team and family like culture. Company displays or at least acts like it cares about you. They were very nice to me during a rough time for my family. It meant a lot.

    Cons

Impossible to call out when sick. The staff runs lean so even if you are dying; calling out can be extremely difficult. Need good availability and required to work most shifts. Certain positions are hard to move up to and corporate does appear to play favorites when it comes to promotions of all types.

    Advice to Management

You guys are doing fine. Just keep on keeping on.
