    Pros

Great pay and benefits! Very transparent with internal staff and customers! Truly cares about their employees and strives to implement feedback given by them too.

    Cons

Technology - but this is something they are definitely working on improving and have made large strides over the past couple of years.

I have been working at Wawanesa Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, central location, casual dress code, pay is ok.

    Cons

95% of jobs here are taking calls non stop, someone steals lunches from the break rooms constantly, really slow and bad systems for us and for customers, really angry customers, we don't even get a discount on insurance as employees, they hire anyone off the street, lazy supes, not much room to grow or move up or just get a job that isn't on the phone all day, working all holidays, you can only sign out to go to the bathroom or take a drink of water 10 minutes a day and they actually time you, everyone trains or teaches the same thing a different way, so many weird people working here, no parking as in, I am not allowed to park in the parking lot but am required to park somewhere else until you get permission

    Advice to Management

Rotating job duties for customer service reps maybe, make the website better for customers so they don't have to wait an hour just to ask me to email them ID cards that they can't even open because we use a weird encrypted system, focus on fixing customer problems instead of hiring more reps that are just going to quit in a few months anyway, 10 new reps arent going to do much when hundreds of people are on hold, make things standard across the board and not have every supe doing something different.

I have been working at Wawanesa Insurance (More than a year)

    Pros

The company is going through a lot of exciting change and employees have the opportunity to make an impact in the future of the company. Wawanesa truly values its employees and realizes they are the best asset.

The company has high expectations of its employees and you need to be prepared to work hard but it is acknowledged and supported. The benefits, compensation, and wellness program are fantastic - employees can take Yoga classes during lunch and there are a lot of events around employee appreciation.

Supporting the community is a high priority for the company as well and employees are encouraged to give back and volunteer at community events.

Overall it is a really great place to work and I am so happy I chose Wawanesa!

    Cons

There is a lot of change so you have to be adaptable. Expectations are high but that is necessary for an insurance company to thrive and grow.

    Pros

Coworkers who understand the struggle you endure each day.
    Great benefits.

    Cons

    Weak leadership and management.
The company is rife with office politics and nepotism.
Lower level employees are treated as inferior and disposable (Temps are treated worse).
You will be passed over for promotions and positions unless you have seniority or preference with the hiring manager(s) and HR staff.

    Advice to Management

Winnipeg needs to trim the fat and address the ongoing issues occurring in its US branch.

I worked at Wawanesa Insurance full-time

    Pros

The company is very focused on community involvement and support. I was impressed at the charities they assisted and encouraged employees to contribute volunteer hours at community events. They were supportive of a healthy work life balance and had excellent benefits.

    Cons

As I was leaving, they were overhauling their business practices and shifting employee hours and job duties. There was a bunch of turmoil, and I am unsure how it shook out.

    Pros

Company paid benefits for the employee
Decent pay for entry level jobs

    Cons

    Systems are out of date
    Customers very unsatisfied w/ service
    Very micro-managed
    Poor communication throughout the company
Training is poor - Agents don't know what they are doing - Luckily I came to this company with insurance knowledge otherwise I would be screwed
The turn over rate is over 45% !!!! People have no clue what they are getting into

    Advice to Management

Update your systems to a more user friendly version
    Update your App for customers
Send out the paperwork on time!!!
Give employees the option to work from home

Decent Company that appears to care about their employees

I worked at Wawanesa Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Beside your fellow co-workers who become your friends and life line there is NO PROs

    Cons

-micro manage, the common phrases used is "on the radar" once your on anyone else's radar your pretty much going to be stressed/ pushed out of the company
    - Upper management and supervisors are all inconsistent which can be bad for you espically during monthly claim audits
-claims overload, 5+ claims a day and they still want a pending of 55 at the end of the month
    - work environment, everyone is always stressed out the whole vibe is all just bad. That's why they have a VERY high turn over rate and you do feel it in claims

-also you have to park across the street after so many months or year your invited to park in the parking lot. Security will tell you to move your car if you don't follow rule

    Advice to Management

-first things first clean house on management/ supervisors. When you have a upper manager know on the claims floor as the she-devil then maybe you should remove them.
-also get a better training program because yours sucks. You spend more time reading and making scenarios then you do on the actual claims and then when you do it's rush rush rush.
    - HR when you have someone complain about management don't tell the person complaining they just misinterpreted what was said. Epcaially when the complaint was about the other persons actions not words! (Legal action will be the outcome if you don't properly handle situations )

-Canada come down and fix this
    company

Those looking here to work don't be fooled by the pay espically when your going to be to stressed out/tired to even enjoy it. There are better insurance companies to work for!
