I have been working at Wawanesa Insurance full-time

    Pros

    Pension
Medical $10 a month if it's just you

The real pro here is wawanesa was in deep water so to speak at least in the customer service department it was really bad. But in one year with suggestions from us they turned it all around and now it's a great place to work.

    Cons

Still a lot of favoritism and HR reps have no idea what they are doing

    Advice to Management

Keep doing employee surveys and implementing suggestions from us when you can. Maybe try to be less bias. Ml

I worked at Wawanesa Insurance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay. And benefits. Horrible place to work.

    Cons

    Horrible training to new hires.
Leadership are to proud and hate to help employees.
Leadership doesn't like to work hard and they don't like different work ethics on new employees.

    Advice to Management

Be more realistic on the information provided to new employees for the best of the company. And pay attention to the staff attitudes

    Low rates
    Nice deli downstairs

    Cons

    Micro Managing at its best
    Getting time off
Emails if your 1 minute late from lunch, ONE TIME
Computer system is a joke and can’t fix the most important button.
    Parking parking parking
Being pushed to get people to sign up for email distribution by being pushy.
    Favoritism
    Closed off work spaces
    Hours
They hire a lot from the outside
Most of all always feeling tested. It’s a very stressful environment.

I have been working at Wawanesa Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Pension, benefits & PTO.
    Work with mostly good people.

    Cons

Claims management. The majority of the supervisors in claims are terrible. No leadership at all. Just sit in their corner & avoid everything, until there is a fire. Then over react & not actually help. It’s honestly embarrassing how useless these supervisors are.

    Advice to Management

Hold your sups accountable. Work environment filters down from the top, so if the department environment is toxic, work you way up until you identify the actual problem.

    Central Location
    Casual Dress
    Pension/Benefits
    Not micro managed

    Cons

-Outdated and slow system that has a weekly glitch
    -Inconsistent training
-Supervisors hate to take calls, and you may find yourself “punished” for assigning a sup a call
-NEPOTISTIC. This company is all about who likes you. A popularity contest amongst supervisors, if you will.

    Advice to Management

    Treat all employees fairly.
    Update your system.
Provide training and development roles for reps that actually want to move up with the company
    -BE FAIR

Great Benefits, People that care about you both as an employee and an individual. Company cares about its customers and listens to employee recommendations. Room to grow, and help with continuing education. Opportunities to get involved with your community are not only encouraged but you are given 1 paid day to volunteer!

    Cons

Old tech, but it is improving just at a snails pace. Website needs work to be more user friendly. Make it easier for customers to self service.

I have been working at Wawanesa Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, central location, casual dress code, pay is ok.

    Cons

95% of jobs here are taking calls non stop, someone steals lunches from the break rooms constantly, really slow and bad systems for us and for customers, really angry customers, we don't even get a discount on insurance as employees, they hire anyone off the street, lazy supes, not much room to grow or move up or just get a job that isn't on the phone all day, working all holidays, you can only sign out to go to the bathroom or take a drink of water 10 minutes a day and they actually time you, everyone trains or teaches the same thing a different way, so many weird people working here, no parking as in, I am not allowed to park in the parking lot but am required to park somewhere else until you get permission

    Advice to Management

Rotating job duties for customer service reps maybe, make the website better for customers so they don't have to wait an hour just to ask me to email them ID cards that they can't even open because we use a weird encrypted system, focus on fixing customer problems instead of hiring more reps that are just going to quit in a few months anyway, 10 new reps arent going to do much when hundreds of people are on hold, make things standard across the board and not have every supe doing something different.
