I worked at Wawanesa Insurance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Health Benefits are competitive.
    Great co-workers.
Hour lunches- believe me, you will need them.

    Cons

Parking, you are required to park on the street, which will be stressful, dangerous and very time consuming! Yes, they have a parking lot that can only be utilized by those that have been working for the company for over a year smh.

No opportunity for growth, can be a top performer and go completely unnoticed.

    History of obvious favoritism.

No clear targets and goals, policies and procedures change on a day to day basis.

    Performance doesn’t matter.

Supervisors have no idea what they are doing, they go in and out of meetings on a daily basis.

Stressed out zombies, I mean employees can be seen walking the halls all day every day.

If your looking for a company that offers growth, compensation and value continue looking.

    Horrible daily, weekly, monthly turnover.

    Advice to Management

Set goals, value employees, promote from within! Value performance and steer clear away from favoritism. It’s 2019 for crying out loud! Employees are looking for growth, especially when they exceed goals!

I worked at Wawanesa Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Centrally located office, good benefit plans for health and retirement

    Cons

Very behind in technology, extremely disorganized at all levels, obvious culture of favoritism

    Advice to Management

They’re not going to take it - they protect their own positions first and foremost. A major style of mid-level management is hiding the lack of their own modern skillset by pointing out tiny mistakes by stressed out employees, who deal with system glitches 8+ hrs a day to get even the most basic daily tasks done. Then eventually burning out and turning over lower level employees. It was honestly pretty crazy to watch over a couple years lol.

Overall the product they are offering is sadly outdated and creates a poor customer experience in so many ways (many aspects of the insurance process can be automated; with friendly, readily available customer service to supplement that experience). What’s worst of all is they don’t focus on fixing that at all. Management just spins wheels all day, creating reports that communicate nothing and no one understands. There is no foresight or creating solutions towards long term technical goals. Trying to work smarter for this company and their customers is like swimming upriver, all day every day - while the competitors zoom by in a pretty snazzy app of a speedboat.

Working for them was only ok, because again a lot of people were very nice. I would recommended for a short amount of time but definitely not a career.

You can play your heart out as long as you want ... but if it’s a losing team, you’re still gonna be a loser.

    Pros

Great benefits and that is it.

    Cons

Most supervisors in customer service refuse to take supervisor calls and customers get more frustrated. Too many systems glitches which affects your performance. Unrealistic expectations with system glitch.

    Advice to Management

Supervisors should get reported when refusing to take supervisor calls or when their not in their office to take calls, just like customer service representatives.

I have been working at Wawanesa Insurance full-time

    Pros

    Pension
Medical $10 a month if it's just you

The real pro here is wawanesa was in deep water so to speak at least in the customer service department it was really bad. But in one year with suggestions from us they turned it all around and now it's a great place to work.

    Cons

Still a lot of favoritism and HR reps have no idea what they are doing

    Advice to Management

Keep doing employee surveys and implementing suggestions from us when you can. Maybe try to be less bias. Ml

    Cons

Leadership doesn't like to work hard and they don't like different work ethics on new employees.

    Advice to Management

Be more realistic on the information provided to new employees for the best of the company. And pay attention to the staff attitudes
