I have been working at Wayne Memorial full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Love that I have off every other weekend and the pay isn't too horrible. Most of the people I work with are nice people.

    Cons

Pay could be better. Being the only RN on my shift is as inconvenience. Management could be better. if there was a complaint, it is not followed up with(basically swept under the rug)

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees fairly. Follow up on that complaint to see if it has been resolved. Sweeping things under the rug does not make it go away.

    Pros

The people I work with in my department are good people, they work together to get everything done the best way possible.

    Cons

The downside of Wayne memorial is that the pay really sucks, Wayne memorial is the lowest paying hospital in PA. also no one seems to listen to any ideas that the employees have about bettering patient satisfaction, or making the work place better for the employees. The happy classes the keep having really are useless , the should take the money they are paying for those and give the employees a well deserved and long awaited raise. Or at least update the pay to that of other hospitals.

    Advice to Management

I think management should really think more about their employees, with all the patient satisfaction programs they are doing, they are forgeting about one of most importent things.
A HAPPY EMPLOYEE MAKES HAPPY CUSTOMERS!!!!

  3. "RN"

    Pros

Nice community, family-like coworkers, good resources available, great starting place for new nurses. Hospital is involved in the community. Reasonable pay for rural area.

    Cons

Very high nurse to patient ratio. Stressful. Inefficient, repetitive charting system. Management out of touch and abrasive. No incentive or recognition for good work. Poor morale.

    Advice to Management

Taking on too many projects at once: cath lab, trauma certification, renovation. Adding huge amounts of new work to the nurses already heavy workload and outrageous ratios.

I worked at Wayne Memorial part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Close to home, the lower level employees are very nice

    Cons

Too small, "outsiders" treated differently, hard to advance especially if you upset someone's relative. Middle management needs "people skills" training. Most are promoted to the point of incompetency, they may be good at one job but not as a manager. It's a good ole boys network and nepotism runs rampant.

    Advice to Management

Service Excellence should be taught to middle management first and they should receive some people skills training on how to be a manager before being promoted. Realization that the employees are what makes the hospital a welcoming environment and keep those good employees instead of letting them walk.

    Pros

patients and friends, meeting new people

    Cons

management needs to be more involved in the "small people"

    Advice to Management

People are People no matter how small - Dr. Suess
There are several positions that are not recognized in any eyes through hospital, where do aides fit into any category, they are not treated fairly for all the hard work.
