I have been working at Weatherford full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits. Good Co-workers and direct supervisor. Good work atmosphere. Good Work-Life Balance.

    Cons

Executive management had no concrete vision and exhausted the company's liquidity, being forced to pare down human and physical resources to a point that it is hard to compete effectively.

    Advice to Management

Hope you find some time for tackling something other than the dire liquidity and debt situation. There is no way you will get positive cash flow if you don't focus on your human resources. People are already stretched too far and morale is low.

I have been working at Weatherford full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Co workers are friendly. Working hours flexible. Benefits are acceptable given the current downturn in energy climate. Senior management is essentially new and I hope they spark the workforce to be productive instead of wondering if their job will be cut.

    Cons

As I stated in the Pro's section, senior management is fairly new, so their insight on the direction of technology is yet to be determined on how WFT will compete against Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker. Safety and security are now top priorities to keep everyone safe and keep the workplace secure, it's only a pain in the rear to implement

    Advice to Management

The energy industry needs to take a turn for the better before management can be evaluated. WFT workforce already cut down in size, will management retain workers and provide new technology or will people bail ship and look for more lucrative opportunities with another oil field service company.

    Pros

Great work-life balance. Awesome place to work (when things are going good)

    Cons

A lot of layoffs during the downturn. Seems to happen every 4-5 years. Not company specific but that's no consolation.

    Pros

Great people, great technology, global opportunities.

    Cons

Pressurised environment due to fiscal position of the company and the cyclic nature of the industry.

    Advice to Management

Develop your talent base more formally (structured) & promote from within based on merit.
Keep senior management in place for longer to allow time for a direction and vision to be implemented.

I worked at Weatherford full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Because the company is poorly run from top to bottom, there is a lot of leniency and flexibility. You can negotiate for a lot of perks and slip by with a lot of extras because the rules throughout the company are so poorly managed.

    Cons

I was always concerned Weatherford was going to collapse at any day.

    Advice to Management

Understand what is going on in every division and limit the number of days people are forced to work.
