I worked at Weatherford Laboratories full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are genuine people there who work hard and who are proud of the world they achieve. There is a sense of camaraderie among the working class that is admirable because everyone will help anyone out regardless of their assigned tasks. Unfortunately it comes from a 'we are all oppressed' mindset. The growth of the company was fantastic to be a part of, but no one at the top wanted to share that success with anyone for any reason.

    Cons

The company was little more than a pyramid scheme for the four people at the top who controlled everything. The factory environment at the bottom was run by managers who had very little interest in developing anything except their pension plan. There was no professional growth unless someone jumped ship to a major for 20% more or was fired to cover up a mess or to placate a client. Absolute fear ran the company and the engineering group held all the power. In certain circumstances, improving services to a client upset the balance of 'power' and the people at the bottom who were creating the solutions lost their jobs.

    Advice to Management

Replace your entire management and engineering staff with people who actually know how to run a business by looking at a balance sheet, not through office politics and fear. Stop treating your technicians as slaves and stop worshiping people with letters after their names.

    Pros

Easy going work environment and very friendly

    Cons

Needs better management. Managers there are afraid of conflict and nothing ever changes. Good employees become burnt out because bad employees are able to get away with murder

I worked at Weatherford Laboratories full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was able to travel the world and had a great level of responsibility. Everyone was very friendly as well.

    Cons

The schedule was very erratic. It was very hard to plan any personal time. I did enjoy the work very much.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. The schedule could be improved. Also, when traveling abroad the pay and the security could be better.

I worked at Weatherford Laboratories full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Laid back work environment, tuition reimbursement, generally a good place to work if you don't mind the tedious work, if you know anything about computers you are an asset as management is old and generally not computer savvy. Not sure if it's a pro, but Weatherford Labs is a sinking ship that a lot of companies want nothing to do with, and work is dwindling. Odds are you won't really have to do any work.

    Cons

ridiculous micromanagement by managers who don't know what they're doing, plus the fact that 90% of the managers are not management material and seriously need some sort of management training, processes are made up on the fly, low pay, subpar benefits, lots of nepotism and favoritism. Minorities are subjected to training videos with a racist slant, including racial slurs and admonishment 'not to use those words'

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the employees who work instead of the lazy ones who kiss up. CEO makes bad decisions. Stop losing radioactive material. Stop the racist trainings. Stop acting like cowards.

    Pros

pay was great and management was productive and provided great constructive criticism. I felt like sometimes safety was put on a back burner.

    Cons

the industry is very up and down so during the down period it seemed like the people who were laid off were based on a popularity contest in some cases.
