I have been working at Weatherford full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Weatherford is a place that allows you to grow and gain experience. Very good opportunity for improvement and advancement if you are self motivated.

    Cons

Long hours, pay isn't outstanding (but not terrible)

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to the people under you, some have great ideas and some are simply riding the wave.

    I worked at Weatherford full-time

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits. But as the market fell in late 2014, early 2015 my salary fell by about 35% from what the original salary was. Don't get the idea that your starting salary is in anyway locked in.
Great way to see rig operations and learn about how the industry functions.

    Cons

Work-life balance was rough, working 12 hour night shifts, and when you get 2-3 days off after drilling a well your sleep schedule is all messed up so you pretty much either just stay on the reverse sleep schedule or you are switching back and forth constantly, neither of which are really great options.

    Advice to Management

Communication about scheduling could be better from management. There were times in which you didn't know when you would have to leave home to go to the rig. Many times they call and say: "we need to you leave for the rig and be there in 4 hours", but the rig was 3 hours away, so you pretty much have to drop what you are doing and leave without much notice. Just would be nice to give rig status updates so people can get an idea of when they'll need to leave.

I have been working at Weatherford full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Good pay
    - Some work from home opportunities
    - Depending on management/division, good work/life balance

    Cons

    - Poor management of the company overall
    - Knee-jerk reactions
    - Poor controls of processes
    - Lack of accountability at nearly every level
    - Lack of opportunity for career advancement / growth
    - Merit raises were not based on merit

The thought of an organization that lacks maturity and discipline comes to mind.

    Advice to Management

Most of management should quit - CEO has seemingly good intentions, but most likely too little, too late. I've had 5 different department Directors in 6 years.
