I worked at Weatherford full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My boss was friendly enough and I enjoyed my coworkers.

    Cons

Not as competitive as Halliburton or Schlumberger.

    Advice to Management

None, merged with one stim all ready.

I worked at Weatherford full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

High paying job, 90% mental / 10% physical work.
    Company vehicle with gas included.
Food per diem daily, hotels paid for.
    Paid salary and daily "bonus".

    Cons

No work schedule / time line. Work as needed, on call always.
Have to drop what you are doing and report to work ASAP when called. Understanding managers will allow slack on this as long as you can find a replacement.

    Advice to Management

Hire quality over quanitity. I have an engineering degree, so I was more suited for the technical aspect of this job, while many others hired were not computer savvy people who had to be taught how to use computers from day 1. Oilfield experience helps, but MWD is more tailored to computer nerds who like some mechanical/electrical field work.

I worked at Weatherford full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay was generally in line, increases were not regular and bonuses could never be counted on. A lot of good people but management not doing them justice.

    Cons

Questionable management placement in Production group. Just reinstated 401k match. Unable to order inventory. Slow to pay suppliers. A lot of corporate overhead. Many teams have reverted to silo mentality

    Advice to Management

Management needs to talk to field hands and learn who in middle management is doing what they should. Do not count on management to report they are ineffective. Cut products that are not profitable and get cash flow so those that are can order product (pay your suppliers).

    Pros

Good employee benefits package and 401K match up to 4%.

    Cons

Poor corporate direction and inefficient utilization of resources, especially human resources. Will rather lose good employees than encourage them to grow internally within the company.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent with employees and share more details of the "big picture" to keep them engaged.

    Pros

    the pay is decent.

    Cons

long hours. usually six days a week. mandatory overtime. shorthanded. everybody hates their life here.bosses do not hardly talk to you. management sucks bad. tey talk about being big on safety but do not ever fix the problems. all they care about is production they dont care about you as an employee at all. you are a number.

    Advice to Management

There are a lot of things you need to fix quickly. safety issues. employees getting fed up with working long weeks and leaving weatherford. not enough experienced employees.
