I have been working at WebCanada (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great team. Great product. Opportunity to be very successful. Amazing location and great vibe in the office. New President is a breath of fresh air and welcome change.

    Cons

Open concept can sometimes be distracting. Not enough meeting rooms to go around and offices sometimes have to be shared.

    Advice to Management

Keep asking and being open with feedback!

I have been working at WebCanada full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

All Employees are amazing to work with. Though most of them are "Unhappy".

    Cons

    1. High project risks.
    2. Immature project management practices.
    3. lack of integrated management systems.
    4. concurrent multiple projects lands one to nowhere
    5. Managers can get onto nerves.
    6. Hard working employees are hardly recognized, instead, employees who hardly work are kept happy by getting good reviews and are applauded.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your employees one on one basis and STOP taking undue advantage of their situation (An immigrant looking for job OR a student in need of a job) by making them work with low wages.

I have been working at WebCanada full-time

    Pros

Good work/life balance and great people. The Perks: Aeron chairs, monthly company outings and an endless supply of junk food in the kitchen.

    Cons

Not much room for advancement. Poor management leads to not enough time to develop projects, and low moral.
We're supposed to have flex hours but it's frowned upon if your hours don't regularly fall between 8am - 7pm. You can't work from home. Poor on-boarding of new employees. Holidays are the bare minimum and bad pay.

    Advice to Management

Let people work from home. It costs you nothing and would really boost moral. Stop under valuing the good people you have. Stop under budgeting the development time. Give more regular feedback to your employees on an individual basis not just in all hands meetings and yearly reviews.

    I worked at WebCanada full-time

    Pros

    ~ Lunch catered on Fridays
~ Close to street car so easy to get to (but far from subway)
    ~ flex (kinda) hours

    Cons

~ Company has no goals or strategic direction
~ Upper management seems to be more concerned about what they look like and how their hair is combed than the people that are working
~ Weekly all-pathetic meetings do us no good and is a waste of time
~ Any management that has been any good has already left
~ Archaic software practices with the technical leader being incompetent
~ Terrible hiring practices, confidentiality is not commonly practiced in management
~ Stressful environment and always context switching developers

    Advice to Management

~ Having a President of a company that's a contractor is insane, find someone more permanent and that knows something about business
    ~ Hire proper HR personnel

I have been working at WebCanada full-time

    Pros

its a good place get a foot in the door and learn while you are entry level. Super chill atmosphere, very casual office. most people are a pleasure to work with

    Cons

the wages are low and leadership is untrustworthy
workstations are outdated. there are very processes and rules, but we manage to break them anyway. It can be pretty chaotic place to work. There are probably 5-6 A-level employees that carry the rest of the company, and none of them are senior leaders.

    Advice to Management

find quality good people and pay them well to stay

I have been working at WebCanada full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The teams are made up of mostly great hard working people. The office is in a good location easily accessible by transit. Free lunch on Fridays. Social events help bring people together. The chairs are comfortable.

    Cons

The workstations are old, slow, and cheap. Software we rely on for work is old or free. Some loud talkers can blab for hours about little things relevant to literally nobody. There seems little room for personal growth. Have not received helpful feedback from my boss or hr. Positions remain open for months after people leave.

    Advice to Management

The company has no clear mission. Employees need a moral boost and support.

    Pros

Amazing people and great opportunity for advancement and growth. Management always open to new ideas. Always recognizing milestones for employees and great snacks and treats.

    Cons

Still perfecting process. Not a lot of cons except that with so much growth, you have a situation of overcrowding and because of the open concept and high ceilings and wood floors, can be a bit noisy.

    Advice to Management

Recent changes indicate advancing in the right direction. CEO is amazing and teams benefit from more exposure to him.

    I worked at WebCanada full-time

    Pros

the people you work with are amazing and you make good friendships and life long ones. its good for people who are entry level in their careers just starting out you have some movement when youre young, energetic, motivated and dont know any better. sure you get some free food here and there but for the price of the melancholy work environment is jst not worth it.

    Cons

the pay is very low in terms of industry standard and the people are not motivated to do more just enough to get by. the weekly monday all hands meetings are just stupid and pathetic trying to keep people happy saying the same things. no one cares! they think by having them itll make the company better. please. the technology used is dated and you dont get to work on anything new or innovative or get to improve things. there has been and always will be high turnover. any good management that was there has left. you rush everything and do things improperly and get rewarded for doing crappy work. there is no culture...

    Advice to Management

get way better management team or people who have experience to manage them. pay people more to keep them.

The technology used is from circa 2003
management is horrible, no forward vision or goals

    Advice to Management

    Fire the president
Let managers actually do their job
