I worked at Webb deVlam full-time

    Pros

There were many cool people that I got to work with day to day, who gave out tons of positive vibes and created and amazing atmosphere. Further the office itself is really cool and stylish. On Friday we would have free office lunch catered. It was a fun time to get to know people you might not work with daily.

    Cons

There were not many. I was let go during a round of company-wide downsizing. The biggest con may have been the misunderstanding the importance of company culture to productivity and happiness.

    Advice to Management

The bonds of friendship and respect that make a team operate like a highly efficient machine should be considered with more weight when trimming fat.

    Hello,
I agree that culture has an impact on productivity and happiness. We've been working on creating a great culture everywhere in the sgsco collective to ensure everyone feels like they are part... More

I worked at Webb deVlam full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Family-like culture
    Casual, creative atmosphere
    Dog-friendly office
    Great people

    Cons

Founder no longer owns company so he has no power in decisions
Lost several big accounts resulting in many rounds of layoffs in the past couple years
Overall negative morale across all teams due to extensive negative changes

    Advice to Management

I would have rated this company 5 stars if it was 3 years ago. Recent failure to respect and value tenured employees that have helped make WdV a success over the years has been the turning point...along with the SGS acquisition. Don't just see people as a salary and lay them off based on that corporate mentality. Culture and morale depends on good leadership and taking care of your employees.

I have been working at Webb deVlam as an intern

    Pros

I learned more here in a month than I did in my last year of earning my degree. The nature of Industrial Design degrees is a bit self taught though.

    Cons

The ups and downs of working at a consultancy can be stressful. That is not exclusive to Webb deVlam though. They were recently bought by SGSco so they have an influx of work.

    Advice to Management

I would like to see more transparency on how things are going from management. What can I do to help make things better?

I have been working at Webb deVlam full-time

    Pros

Good people, some interesting projects, not a lot of really late hours, pretty relaxed work environment, some really hard working and creative designers

    Cons

A lot of transition and longtime employees leaving, unclear vision for the future, missing leadership

    Advice to Management

    Focus on the people

I worked at Webb deVlam as a contractor

    Pros

Very youthful environment, but with great senior leadership. Team is hard working and they play hard! Egos are put aside and everyone is great to work with.

    Cons

I've noticed some turnover of some senior level employees lately, some of which were there 10-15+ years. Still is a great place to work.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep your doors open to employees and continue to be a fun place to work. Make sure not to burn out your young designers.
