I worked at Webco full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

It's a family atmosphere and overall the people are good to work with. They diversify their business well and even though there are tough times (as most manufacturers have), they know how to navigate them to stay afloat and rise back up.

    Cons

You can encounter a bit of a old boys network with management, but HR is quick to look into situations that are not appropriate if you talk with them. Most people don't want to rock the boat though and usually situations don't change, but if you are willing to take some heat then you can make a difference.

    Advice to Management

Address situations that affect multiple employees in a timely fashion so they don't escalate.

I worked at Webco full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Variety and flexibility are great points to working with Webco.

    Cons

People hired into management with little to no experience in field they supervise.

    Advice to Management

Make sure managers are placed in supervisory positions only for fields they have worked in.

I have been working at Webco full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are okay, webco pays the lions share of the cost. Shop floor employees are a good group to work with

    Cons

The shifts are long and demanding, floor employees are always tasked with making up for managements mistakes and poor planning.

    Advice to Management

Quit focusing on Coveys principles, and treat your people right. Train employees for their job not a meeting.

I have been working at Webco full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Close family like environment. Easy to make friends and the jobs are exciting. Upper management cares about its employees. You can see the affects of your work

    Cons

Not a huge company so might not get paid as much as some other places. If you don't like getting your hands dirty this isn't the place for you

    Advice to Management

    You are doing great

    I worked at Webco full-time

    Pros

This was one of the few companies willing to take a chance and hire an inexperienced engineer fresh out of college at the time. I have gained valuable experience.

    Cons

However, I would not recommend this company as a long term commitment since the upward mobility is limited. They didn't emphasize training nearly enough. The key to a successful company is training your employees. Also, pay and benefits are below average for the profession (except for healthcare, this company does have good healthcare benefits). They stopped matching 401k twice while I was employed there. Even then, it was only 50% of the first 4% of your salary (which is paltry compared to industry standards)

    Advice to Management

I would focus heavily on training and developing engineer's skill-set. This will payoff in the long-term, but may cost more in the short-term.

I worked at Webco (More than a year)

    Pros

Good health benefits. Interesting projects, and you will feel like you're making a difference for the manufacturing workers.

    Cons

Low opportunity for advancement. Favorites were played in promotion structure. Not a performance based promotion structure. Poor training. When my job responsibilities changed, I was not adequately trained in the new position. I expressed this multiple times, and yet when duties I didn't know I had were not done, it was my fault. Poor feedback structure. Yearly feedback is supposed to be sufficient when job responsibilities change.

    Advice to Management

Improve how feedback is delivered. Figure out OTJ training.
