    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Great organization now known as Zodiac Aerospace. They are one of the more positive manufacturing companies I have worked for. Management was extremely supportive and helpful. The company works well with the union and the employees take great pride in their work.

Pay is comparable to the region for north Texas and south Oklahoma. The organization also provides accrued sick leave, vacation pay, 401k among other benefits.

    Cons

Some areas of the company do have a feeling of nepotism where there are spouses working within close proximity of eath other. This would give the impression that preferential treatment is given when time off is rewarded to employees, especially when that spouse is in a management position.

    Advice to Management

Keep maintaining the focus on process improvement.

I worked at Weber Aircraft (Less than a year)

    Pros

Paid well and the job was quite challenging. Lots of room to learn. Plenty of traveling if you like that thing.

    Cons

Too much management disorganization. Got the impression that it was a very clanny place to work. Too much reshuffling going on and management fighting for positions.

    Advice to Management

    Treat staff better

I worked at Weber Aircraft full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to start a career , at the time. Helpful community in engineering. Just small enough to design and follow through with the entire manufacturing into assembly.

    Cons

Difficult work environment with union, less-than-helpful manufacturing employees. Engineering is somewhat discontinuous and unfocused.

    Advice to Management

Management was a revolving door during my time. Ideas were never brought to fruition. Management was very much secluded in both their ideas and their meetings. Outside input did not seem welcomed, or it was entertained and dismissed as inferior.

Given the management atmosphere described, there is no advice to give that will make any significant impact.

I have been working at Weber Aircraft full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not many. ....you get your own desk. ....sometimes. Some people do have to share a desk with second shift though, so be sure to clear out before they sit on you.

    Cons

    Everything else. Literally, ......EVERYTHING ELSE.

    Advice to Management

Burn the place to the ground and start over. Preferably leaving the majority of management inside. Everyone runs around cracking whips to get stuff done, it doesn't get done, they crack whips harder. Try helping once in a while, or contributing in a positive way. Also, understand that giving a project a deadline, .....then adding a bunch of stuff to the project REQUIRES the changing of the original deadline!!! You can't give someone until Friday, then quadruple the work load and expect the same time frame. We live in a world with rules; bending space-time wasn't in the job description.

I worked at Weber Aircraft full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Get some exposure to aerospace industry. Stable job

    Cons

Engineering is formality. Need a change in culture. Too many relatives in the companies. Program Management positions (several) are with people who have no engineering background. The career path is if you are a Project Administrator and have a BA in horticulture , you can still be an engineering program manager. Just saying.

    Advice to Management

Value people with knowledge and willingness to learn. Ensure you engineer your product and invest money in research and development for new products. Make sure you have experienced and knowledgable people in leadership positions. Try and reduce nepotism !

    Pros

Generally nice group of people to work with. Big company with lots of growth

    Cons

Pay was way too low when hired on, it is improving though.
    Some positions are mass chaos

    Advice to Management

Truly focus on developing your people. Provide better compensation and more programs/opportunities/benefits.

  8. "Great for short term experience"

    Pros

You get hands on experience working on lot of projects and build your skills.
Chance to get familiar with aircraft industry.

    Cons

Management is bad. You will be dumped with numerous tasks and most of it needs attention the same time. It will stress you out if your testing fails and you have to redo it. Get some experience and move out.
