Friendly, laid back environment. Good people with low drama. Team cares about doing good work.

Management (3 whole people over 80+ people) are out of touch and are inexperienced in leading a team. They don’t understand what keeps people loyal and want to stay, like areas to be promoted, or give bonuses for introducing time-saving processes and up-skilled work. If I learned something new, taught myself how to improve my work and gave the client a better outcome, maybe someone would notice and say great, but there was no bonus, perks or anything after that. They don’t want to pay people enough to stick around, and don’t have a real salary or bonus structure. You basically ask at your annual review and get a lame answer about the company can’t afford it. They spend money on a fleet of cars, remodeling and toys for the office (writeoffs) but we had to beg and fight to get a raise, buy a useful web app/ tool or go learn something to help us improve our skills. They think a cool office and culture is enough to make it a great workplace. The team is behind the times and need to hire more expert level skilled leads to bring the team to a competitive level. They keep hiring mostly inexperienced (cheap) people with no communication or problem solving skills, and we’d keep losing clients due to them not understanding our value. Management just babysits and puts out fires instead of leading and teaching any expertise. There has to be more than a few senior level people in a mentoring position (actually doing the work and keeping up with the latest industry changes) with time to train, to give people a way to grow and improve on an ongoing basis. Management acts open minded and hears ideas, but the owner is cheap and only they only act on the things they agree with (and understand) and refuse to listen to their people. They don’t really value anyone who is not a developer as far as paying them according to industry standards. I heard only a select few get profit sharing. I was told they used to have it for everyone but did away with it when the owner started creating and buying up other businesses and agencies.

    Webspec Design Response

We have grown from 25 to 65 team members in under 18 months. Yes, I acknowledge that this has come with challenges along the way. I am sorry that I failed to meet your expectations during your time here. We are certainly far from perfect. I am actively working on the new skills I need to successfully manage a larger company. The comments directed towards your fellow team members I take great issue with. I am privileged to work alongside some of the smartest and most skilled people in our field. Providing opportunities in career progression and training is very important to me. We have invested over a thousand hours into training just in 2019. A number of team members are celebrating between 5 and 15 years of service in 2020. Our company has continued to grow and succeed while many others have struggled with the changing realities of our industry. I am proud of the work we accomplish on behalf of our clients and thankful to be a part of a team that works so hard to make it happen. Jeremiah Terhark CEO / Founder
