I worked at Weight Watchers (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Worked with smart and creative group of people. Projects were challenging and there was satisfaction that we were helping someone improve their lives. I was able to move up and grow into a leadership role. Overall, a good experience.

    Cons

Frustrating that the company could not move with the times from a technology standpoint. Colleagues voiced this early on but it seem to fall on deaf ears until the company struggled with keeping up with free apps and devices that could track food and weight much easier. This resulted in the 2015 layoffs where many of those smart and creative people were let go. Afterwards, many others also left.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully the technology will improve and they will appeal to a broader market. Listen to your people.

    Pros

They train you fully. You give them your availability and they match you up with hours that work for your schedule.

    Cons

Not enough work to live off of. It is hard to get hours in the beginning.

    Advice to Management

Give people the hours that they request.

I have been working at Weight Watchers (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, wonderful clients, keeps employees at their personal weight loss goals. Ability to meet all kinds of people. Generous employee discounts.

    Cons

Technology is very antiquated and attempts to upgrade are poorly handled. Many parts of the job don't use technology at all, it is pen and paper. Low pay, management doesn't listen to employees enough and sometimes makes decisions that are good for corporate but not good for clients and employees.

    Advice to Management

Have more people from the field making decisions that affect people in the field.

I have been working at Weight Watchers part-time

    Pros

1/2 off products. Meet people and try to make a difference in their day.

    Cons

Not many hours, very little hours

    Advice to Management

Quit hiring everyone and their brother. There are not enough hours and those that work them have been there for years.

I worked at Weight Watchers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some reasonably talented people, trying to do reasonable things in a sea of CYA and ineptitude. Pretty decent mission, at a high level at least.

    Cons

Trying to get people to take things like network and account security seriously. Trying to help people understand that Agile is more than a daily stand-up.

    Advice to Management

Lose the CTO, lose the VP Eng.

Good part-time gig if you have a lot of members in your meetings.

    Cons

Hard to get a permanent meeting unless you've been working for a while.

I have been working at Weight Watchers part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Being a part of member's journey to good health. Flexible schedule, accountability to maintain weight loss. That's about it. Not a lot good right now.

    Cons

Low pay, under appreciated by management. When meeting attendance drops the burden of building it falls direclty on the leader with no help from corporate. TM's are spread too thin, don't coach just criticize and threaten.

    Advice to Management

Remember, field staff are members too. Treat like we are members. I have heard TM's say things to employees that they would never say to a member. It's very unmotivating to see TM's & other management over weight & being "wined & dined" at meetings while staff are crammed into small meeting rooms in uncomfortable chairs, eating terrible food & being expected to cheer Weight Watchers.

I have been working at Weight Watchers part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Our field manager in Lancaster, PA is awesome. She is one of the rare people that can go between the area meetings and corporate while making it look easy. She's that phenomenal. The members that are the meetings that I work are delightful. The pay is ok and I do to help others ( I lost a great deal of weight, myself) but I get reinforcement for myself when I'm struggling that week.

    Cons

The only thing I wish for is to work more meetings that are closer to home. I realize that's part of the job.
