I worked at Weill Cornell Medical College full-time

    Pros

Good benefits (days off & sick/ill days), junior management level talent who really care about improving the institution, salary offerings are below other comparable institutions but aren't bad

    Cons

Inept management (managers who became managers due to their length of time at the institution, not based off of their abilities to manage and lead), poor culture (extremely political and back-stabbing occurs often), failure to harness talent of lower-level employees (they often leave the institution for greener pastures)

The BIGGEST con of all for WCM is the fact that they REFUSE TO FAIRLY COMPENSATE INTERNAL CANDIDATES FOR PROMOTIONS!!! Extremely frustrating and a disgusting show of loyalty to their employees. An outside can come in and get a 20% pay increase from their current standing, but if you're an internal candidate, you're most likely looking at a 9-12% increase. What kind of show of faith and fairness is this??

    Advice to Management

Focus on changing the status quo. This institution is mired in it's own past failures and lack of leadership under the CIO and ITS Director level. Too often these individuals are not held accountable for their failures to lead by example and properly harness the talent of their underlings.
