I have been working at Weir Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The overall group is helpful and work well together. My lead is hepful and knowledgeable.

    Cons

Out of the 4 major factors for accepting this job, only 1 has held true. This is mostky die to the project i was hired in for being redirected, but my schedules changed 4 times in the last 6 months.

    Advice to Management

Nees to have a defined plan for the cloud project beyond the next 6 months. Employees need to know jobs are sound.

I worked at Weir Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pays well, decent location, office provides all materials you need for the job

    Cons

Poor management for customer service department, unhappy employees, high stress levels, no formal training, untrustworthy HR department, faced discrimination as a person with disability, juvenile level of petty and competitive behavior from both my manager and peers

    Advice to Management

For one to produce their best work, it is important that the work environment and treatment of employees has some priority.

I have been working at Weir Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Benefits are unrivaled
    - Business acumen of the organization is a decisive strength
    - Compensation and review process for employees

    Cons

    - With a large organization comes a lot of tape and procedure, this can be time consuming when attempting to be proactive.
    - There are ceilings at certain levels that are tough to overcome.
    - Volatility in the market can contribute to fairly transient personnel base.

    Advice to Management

I'm going to leave this block empty by completing the 20 word minimum with things that interest me: Dallas Cowboys, Aggie Football, golf, my spouse and two little girls. So on and so forth.

I worked at Weir Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Loved the work I was doing and my co-workers. Really enjoyed working in the oil & gas industry and would have loved to have stayed. Pay was pretty good until company was purchased by Weir.

    Cons

Another story of a large corporation that doesn't care about their employees. Company was purchased from overseas and they knew nothing about the wellhead business and company spiraled down quickly. Employees were never shown any appreciation whatsoever. No pay raises or bonuses in 3 years. Bad management.

    Advice to Management

Listen to those who are knowledgeable about the wellhead business. Hire back the ones you let go to help bring the company and its reputation back.

As in all companies there are many good people to work with, they just are not respected.

    Cons

High turnover at the management level. Company highly driven by stock prices, integrity at the staff management level is not good

    Pros

Pay and benefit are pretty good.

    Cons

The place is a dumpster fire. Continuous changes in management, cost cutting measures and Reductions in Force make it a very difficult place to work.

    Advice to Management

Stop the churn. People are sick of it!

I worked at Weir Group full-time

    Pros

Thankful to have worked with Weir in Houston, TX. Got an opportunity to expand and grow my general supply chain skills and experience in the oil and gas industry focusing on manufacturing and quality administration, warehouse and inventory control, purchasing and receiving, and accounts. If you are willing to learn and support other teams, then you will grow, and opportunities will open up.

    Cons

The market downturn hurt a lot of people throughout the oil and gas industry. But, as with all economic cycles, the industry will rebound in time.

I have been working at Weir Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Have health care, dental and flex spending for medicare needs.

    Cons

Make us work the weekends whenever they want. I've been working there since last summer and still haven't seen a raise for my skill level. The building is brand new and doesn't have air conditioning. It has two boilers running making the work environment very humid because burning hot steam. I break out from chemicals if I have to use a lot that day. I can never get chemicals off of my hands before I go home.

    Advice to Management

If the management would actually buy the equipment we need and not buy pointless stuff that we don't even use in the shop. Needs to become an organization by having all the rings, kits, chemicals, and tubes ready so the builders can actually build and not do three other people's job. If they actually listened to what my team lead has been saying for years the place wouldn't be failing.
