I have been working at Weis Markets part-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

This company works with my busy schedule and "second life." The manager of my department is more understanding than any manager I have ever had. If you do your job, there are no worries. I definately don't need to worry about getting stabbed in the back by her. We all have stressful days, but this department is still a great team and I would not want to work in any other department. We work AS A TEAM to get the job...

    Cons

Let me try to think of a con when working in this department. Oh wait, I can't think of any. =)

    Advice to Management

Please keep doing what you are doing. There is nothing wrong with this department.

I have been working at Weis Markets part-time for more than a year

      Pros

Friendly coworkers and above minimum wage as a starting pay. Straight forward work and rules.

      Cons

Management wanting you to work for free, through lunches, and breaks. Being blamed for things you didn't do and for things everyone else does, but being the only one blamed.

      Advice to Management

Pay you people and stop being cheap. Find better ways to show appreciation to your employees and stop taking the customers side all the time. They are NOT always right.

I worked at Weis Markets for less than a year

      Pros

Everyone is very respectful and kind. Employee discount on Weis brand items. They give you an extra dollar an hour for working Sundays.

      Cons

You can't get full time hours, ever. The scheduling is done 3 weeks in advance which makes requesting days off hard. Certain department managers haven't received proper training and have no business in that position. That leads to screwed up inventory counts, so there will be too many breads and not enough muffins. There were several times we ran out of key ingredients, such as the glaze for glazed donuts.

      Advice to Management

Require proper training when promoting someone to a management position. Don't rehire a person who has been fired for not doing their job and then expect the job to get done when they restart.

      Advice to Management

either raise the pay for a baker or get more people in the bakery. The bakery I was in had 6 bakers in a year....no one stays for any length of time...

I have been working at Weis Markets part-time for more than a year

      Pros

Not really stressful. Pretty laid back

      Cons

Management doesn't do well with hiring what the store needs.

      Advice to Management

Hire more so you're not short staffed.

I worked at Weis Markets part-time for less than a year

      Pros

Location is close to home. Most employee's are friendly.

      Cons

Management says they care when they really don't care at all. They throw a fit if you want to change your schedule because you have school (even when you told them you're going to school when you got hired) Management never takes responsibility for anything. (They go around saying that I should've been trained to do things when my trainer never showed me) They let certain employees get away with not wearing gloves...

      Advice to Management

Maybe instead of blaming everyone for your wrong doing, take responsibility and do your own work. Also, if we got paid more then Burger King workers then that would be great.

I have been working at Weis Markets part-time for less than a year

      Pros

Coworkers, schedule flexibility, location, small discount on some groceries

      Cons

Management clearly has staff constantly intimidated to the point where sometimes it makes the job uncomfortable. Low pay.

I worked at Weis Markets part-time for more than a year

      Pros

Fairly good part time job when I was in school. Employees were nice and so was management. I got a pay increase every 6 months but it wasn't much.

      Cons

I was part time and there was a lot of weeks that I ended up working over 40 hours and was only getting paid minimum wage.
