    I worked at Weis Markets part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good starting rate of pay for part time work. Relatively easy work. Not as busy as a regular big box store like Walmart. You get to know your regular customers pretty well.

    Cons

    Most locations are understaffed, so You get asked to come in a lot on days off. Upper management gets moved around a lot so you don't have the same store manager/district manager from year to year.

    Coworkers are nice and fun to work with, lots of learning experience

    Cons

    Bad pay compared to other grocery stores in the area, only get a raise once every year and ranges only from $0.10-$0.20 a year

    Working in retail will teach you people skills that you can carry on to other jobs.

    Cons

    The schedule changes from week to week. Communication with store management is lacking.

    Comminucate with the employees on the floor at a more approachable level. Employees may have helpful and productive recommendations about their departments.

    Start at $9.00 an hour, and there are a lot of hours available

    Cons

    The front end supervisor is not nice, and changing hours is always an issue. The supervisor plays favorites, so moving up is an issue.

    Advice to Management

    Be fair and equal to all employees, don't play favorites.

    Pros

    Good coworkers made it nice to come into work, many departments to help out in, helping other departments made for good experience

    Cons

    Scattered shifts but good amount of hours for being part time, it's a starter job I feel because there's no promotion after customer service. Only able to move from departments if able to do that

    Pros

    The friendships you make with your coworkers will get you through all of the negative aspects of this job. Working at the front desk, you are given more power than the average part time employee. Half the time, you are basically the "manager" of the front end and cashiers. Customer interaction is constant, so if you're a people person, you'll love it. Obviously you'll get a few crabby people, but the sweet regulars...

    First and foremost, the polos you have to wear are god awful. They are a thick, not breathable fabric, and not to mention, UGLY. Ever since they started the "Just Say Yes" program, your hands are tied as to what you can offer customers. You can literally have someone swearing and screaming at you (even with your manager standing right there) and nothing will be done. They just try and make the customer happy, which...

    Advice to Management

    Update the uniforms, please for the love of God. Try and branch out on your own when it comes to advertising and sale ideas...people are starting to notice the copycatting. And if you keep this up, you're going to start losing out to the Walmart's, and Wegman's of the world....and from what I've heard, that's already starting to happen. Appreciate your employees, they are people too.
