I have been working at Weis Markets part-time for more than a year

      Pros

Out of most pharmacies and supermarkets in the area, Weis is one of the better ones. The general demeanor of the regular employees there is wonderful and everyone is always looking out for each other. They have recently hired new store management, and it's rare to have a boss that feels like a friend and not feel like they're always flexing their power over you. However, they're different from the pharmacy management,...

      Cons

There's many things wrong with the Weis pharmacy, and I think anyone who works there or at the store in general should be aware of them before they apply, so here's a list: - The pharmacy management and managers are corrupt. They got caught stealing wages from employees. You would work X number of hours and they would go back into the log and change it so that you got paid for fewer hours. They resist giving raises...

      Advice to Management

Root out the corrupt management. At the very least, reform them. Give your best employees a reason to stay at this company and move away from the CVS approach. Otherwise, be prepared for the pharmacy to sink.

I worked at Weis Markets part-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Enjoyed the work, good manager, somewhat flexible schedule

      Cons

Management will send you home if they run out of hours for you to work, pharmacy techs get same pay as register clerks even though they have a lot more responsibilities

      Advice to Management

Start a pharmacy tech certification program with its own pay scale

I worked at Weis Markets part-time for less than a year

      Pros

The pharmacists are great and there's a lot of room to learn new things. You can take shifts at other stores to get more hours.

      Cons

If the store is slow, you get sent home early. Also training is hard because if it's busy, they want to do the data entry themselves and if it's slow, there's not much to show you. Also, the pay is very low compared to other similar positions in the area.

I have been working at Weis Markets part-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

In-store management is excellent. I'm treated very well by both my manager, as well as other department managers within the store. Scheduling is (fairly) easygoing and they will work around when you are available.

      Cons

You must know when you need a day off 3 weeks in advance, otherwise you have to scramble to find someone to replace you. This isn't always convenient, as some events come up without 3 weeks notice.

      Advice to Management

The reasons given for switching to the "3 week rule" were weak and honestly not convincing at all. I can only see this rule aggravating employees who are also students, which happens to be a good deal of their workforce. I would recommend changing back to 2 weeks and spending more time talking with employees that work under management, rather than just management themselves.

I worked at Weis Markets full-time for more than a year

      Pros

The pharmacy is almost always a tight knit group. They'll have your back as long as you have theirs. And between the phone calls, the customers, and deciphering doctor handwriting, the work is rarely boring.

      Cons

Pharmacy management has no idea what actually goes on in the pharmacy. Unrealistic quotas for administering vaccinations and processing prescriptions (especially when continuously cutting down hours of the technicians, leaving the pharmacists to handle the entire pharmacy by themselves.)

      Advice to Management

Wake up. Spend a day in the pharmacy watching. Or better yet, working. You'll see that it's not as easy as you think.
