I worked at WellCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, convenient on-site cafeteria, free parking

    Cons

Internal clients always tried to side-step compliance requirements. Entrenched management didn't have any power or desire to make operational efficiency changes. People were severely overworked and underappreciated. Toxic atmosphere of favoritism, sucking-up, and overall negativity.

    Advice to Management

Entrenched management will be your downfall. Start following compliance standards. Reward great employees and get rid of the lower performers. Don't promote based only on seniority.

    NO POSITIVE REVIEW TO SAY

    Cons

Case managers are micromanaged daily by unbelievable emails, RE:  productivity metric # pointed out to all CM, YOU are responsible to enroll mbr for CM program, they say OFFER, however, YOU  make member get CM because if YOU dont, they will write YOU up if YOU don't ENROLL a mbr IN program in order to meet metric amt. NOT A happy environment, WORK AT home like robots, cattles & slaves, IF YOU take this job, YOU will have NO LIFE, as YOU work UNTIL 8 to 9pm, doing OLD fashion Careplans like Nursing school & Long Assessment notes. For audits YOU must pass @95% & document EXACTLY as commanded. YOU also have lots of calls F/U on YOUR DASHBOARD to those Already open cases and updating their careplans Q mos, then WE must be on a phone Queue daily for 3.5hr & click a button to say WE are in ready status(Call center) to receive NEW cases to Open. Assembly line production Work, When you open a case, it takes 3.5 hours each + attach to system and Fax them to providers.  YOU must MEET your metric. NEVER ANY PRAISES FOR CM, THEY ONLY INTO #s. YOU MUST MEET your QUOTA. Please believe this accurate review. Nurses are stressed out, panicky, Mgmt. EVEN said, if we  leave half a day, God forbid you have an appt, YOU STILL MUST MEET METRIC #, YOU WILL be coached then written up DICTATORSHIP environment !impractical.

    Advice to Management

Higher ups YOU DONT care two cents about the CM. Why are they treated so badly?? managers leave work on time, but Never CM!

    Pros

work from home is great for moms, peers are supportive and helpful. Other than this there are no other positives.

    Cons

Management expectations are not realistic, hours are at least 10 hours per day to complete workload.

    Advice to Management

Staff development is needed, policies and procedures are needed as well as a real new hire training program

I worked at WellCare as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Ohana Health:
*Location of the company is not in downtown Honolulu. Dealing with morning traffic (if you live) near Kapolei makes morning commute great!
*Complimentary coffee. note: this is something the organization shares with Temp/contract hires.
*Once a month fruit of the month is distribute to Ohana staff (e.g. orange, apple, pear etc). note: this is something the organization shares with Temp/contract hires.
*Parking is provided ONLY for Ohana staff in the underground garage and in a lot nearby (depending on your seniority). Temp/contract hires must find street parking.

    That's about it :(

    Cons

CCS-BH has a selected group that the Leader prefers. This is very telling and make no mistake, this Leader will let you know where your place is by making you feel like you are a "second class citizen".

If the Temp/Contract staff doesn't feel comfortable with the Leader (e.g. communication) this can in turn be used against the Temp/Contract hired staff as incompetent. The demeanor of this Leader is overpowering and knows how to use the skills of the behavioral health (DSM-5) to manipulate staff.

On-boarding Training in this department was horrific! Job Aides for references are non-existent. If you ask your peers for questions you are ridicule with facial expressions from peers (rolling their eyes, gossiping on Lync 2010).

    Advice to Management

This area needs a major overhaul on how to be professionals. The ONLY professional, is the new Supervisor. The new Supervisor endures pandemonium of high school drama on a daily basis. Possibly bringing in a consultant to look at the way people are being lead could help for future changes.

    Pros

Great people that care about the job. Values are good if followed by leaders. Many people work hard. Lot of good things to learn

    Cons

No training. Minorities here are workhorses and scapegoats for incompetent leaders. Report a concern become a target. Limited opportunities for minorities to move up.

    Advice to Management

Bad culture will ruin a good bottom line. Favorites and friends are not good for business. Develop a standard for leaders. Where there is smoke there is fire.

    Pros

A spark of something great before you actually start working there.

    Cons

Everything. I had nothing but a terrible time with this company. Lies, lies, and more lies! They care nothing about their employees, and only about themselves and their own voices. Please choose any of their competitors. This company is rotting from the inside-out.

    Advice to Management

Choose people that actually know how to manage people and care for their employees! The more time you put in, the more you will get!

I have been working at WellCare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

nice campus, healthclub onsite. okay café food.

    Cons

Certain positions are frequently abused by the company to meet deadlines.
(I have had to work numerous weekends and holidays and during my PTO and am expected to work 14-16 days to make up for the lack of clear managerial direction or to chase windmills)
They don't pay enough to burn employees out. It truly affects every aspect of life including your health. Ironic for a healthcare company.
Management has a lot of egos and employees are too cowed to speak up.
Workload is unrealistic and sets ees up for failure.
Management is not able to make decisions regarding policy and strategy and nothing seems documented.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people and split the work more fairly. Get a managers in that have experience in the same roles they are supervising because right now, it seems like most managers have no clue what their reports go through. Hire mgrs with the capability to really direct the work with an eye on the whole project rather than micromanaging around whether people are wearing jeans. Abuse of employees by not giving true time off and a normal work week of no more than 45-50 hours puts the company in a bad legal situation in context to labor law.

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, great team of benefit consultants and good pay. You will meet an array of people from all walks of life at your scheduled events.

    Cons

Very little training from market area and upper management will affect your numbers tremendously by placing you in areas that do not produce leads. The "events" are scheduled at places that include sitting outside at local stores like, Family Dollar, gas stations, convenience stores, etc. and sometimes may cause customers to assume you're not a professional. Be sure to know the LAW because you may be advised to do something illegal by upper management otherwise.

    Advice to Management

I would advise training new staff and being more supportive of the benefit consultants when asked for assistance. I would also like to see upper manager create an environment of positivity instead of trying to place fellow consultants in awkward situations that causes division and skepticism.

I worked at WellCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The compensation is competitive and fair. The bonus is pretty good. When the company does bad, you get nothing, even if your department met its goals.

    Cons

Long hours. You don't really get to practice pharmacy or be a leader. You are a paid gun to baby sit the call center employees. Most of the call center employees hate their jobs. The pharmacy leadership is archaic and has not effective. They manage up and treat reports like they do not need them. The turn over is high even amongst directors. You really don't get a great view of managed care pharmacist and are limited by the leadership and what they want you to learn or expose you to. To be successful, you need to march to the beat of their drums, do not have any thoughts of your own.

    Advice to Management

Look at the pharmacy department. The leadership needs to be revamped. The culture and morale are very low. The
