I worked at WellPoint full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I appreciated the ability to use flexible scheduling which allowed me to continue my education because I could leave earlier on the days I had class.

    Cons

Some members of the management team were unreasonable in their expectations. I needed temporary assistance on a project that started with 3 people and ended with only myself No assistance was forthcoming.

    Advice to Management

It is important to remember that the non-exempt employees are human beings, not machines. The culture and values the company presents in public are not what they put into practice.

I worked at WellPoint (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great hours lots of training to learn new skills

    Cons

Management was hap hazard and seem to lack true skills for the project and staff it was placed with at the time.

    Advice to Management

Speak to staff directly when projects are not doing well as opposed to surveys and meeting with just the management placed on the team.

I worked at WellPoint (Less than a year)

    Pros

sometime free lunch and bday celebration

    Cons

finance team lacks experience... when you hire give respect to staff and give them resource to learn the system. Two months to let go a staff shows mangers put there error on subordinate.

    Advice to Management

when you hire staff ... show respect and give time to get trained. Manager might have worked at Rogers that does not mean she is fit for the role at wellpoint. I have never seen a manager and CFO at Finance who spend time hiring to let employees go in two months. Overly worked for under paid job, with lack of resource. Occupational Health at Wellpoint needs better staff from Management levels to A/P role.

    Cons

impossible to move up unless you know the right people hiring. They don't hang on to good employees because the give raises/promotions to people that dont deserve it.

I worked at WellPoint full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Wellpoint is a good company to work for with excellent benefits. There is room for advancement, and they are education focused. They offer $5000 a yr for tuition. They offer quarterly bonuses and the amount can vary, but it's free money.

    Cons

Not family oriented, hard to get time off, and there is lots of favortism.

    Advice to Management

Know the value of the employees. Learn your job and stop making employees do the work you are paid for. It would not hurt to show some apprecitation and recognition.
