I communicated that I had the bandwidth to take on more work but was not given any. I eventually left because I didn't have enough to keep me busy and engaged.

I worked at WellPoint full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

flexible work location, competitive salaries, knowledgeable staff, good mid-level leaders

    Cons

too many reorgs (at least once per year if not more), annual lay-offs, direction changes frequently, CIO trying to take IT in direction where all IT associates are in either Atlanta, Mason, OH, Richmond, VA Beach, or Indianapolis.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Virtual environment has worked well for years - trying to co-locate teams will not work in a company that has associates across the country. You will deplete your talent pool in those 5 locations.

I worked at WellPoint (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great hours lots of training to learn new skills

    Cons

Management was hap hazard and seem to lack true skills for the project and staff it was placed with at the time.

    Advice to Management

Speak to staff directly when projects are not doing well as opposed to surveys and meeting with just the management placed on the team.

I worked at WellPoint (Less than a year)

    Pros

Exposure to corporate accounts was awesome

    Cons

Because the need for advanced talent is needed in the call center, I witnessed strategic planning to hold over qualified talent hostage in position within the call center. Goals and numbers were blown out the water, yet interviews that could lead to more qualifying positions were blocked by management.

    Advice to Management

Don't hold over qualified candidate hostage in a position. You risk loosing awesome talent to your competitors.
