      Pros

Good benefits including tuition reimbursement. Does not require BSN but if you decide to get it you can pick what school you want to go to and get reimbursed the majority of the expenses.

      Cons

Limited opportunities for nurses other then bedside nursing.

      Growing Too Big

      Pros

Good benefits and access to trainings

      Cons

A patient mill -- move 'em in, bill their insurance, and bring them back as soon as possible so their insurance can be billed again. Never felt like an appreciated team member, just a cog in the big healthcare machine.

The WORST experience of my career!

Apr 13, 2015 - Anonymous in York, PA

      Pros

Good benefits and pay was initially good. Offsite facility where I worked was conveniently located and had modern features.

      Cons

The so-called management professional for my team outwardly showed favoritism and had a huge ego that needed to be stroked constantly by staff. Those on the team who were not well-liked were those who did not focus their attention on the manager and their boring, and at times, crude and inappropriate discussions about their personal life during team meetings. If you enjoy a position where you cannot have independent thoughts or ideas, enjoy extreme micromanagement as well as the potential for belittlement during meetings, then this is the place to go. The division where I worked definitely had a “boy’s club” mentality so if you are a female you should do twice the work, go without recognition, and usually have some type of criticism thrown in for a little boost of morale. There were masked repercussions related to employee satisfaction surveys as well. This was the absolute worst, demoralizing, arrogant, self-serving manage, team, company that I worked for in my career and I would never recommend this healthcare system to a friend or family member.

      Pros

Friendly caring group of people. Good benefits and very flexible.

      Cons

They don't value the good employees enough, they keep a lot of bad and don't try to keep the good ones.

Quality non-profit health system understaffed and hospitalist group underpaid

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Well-integrated, non-profit health system. Consistently rated as a top -100 hospital in the USA. Very good benefits package. Comprehensive, state-of-the-art services at York Hospital. Great nursing staff.

      Cons

The larger it gets, the less personal it becomes. Chronically understaffed in all areas, including nursing and hospitalists. An increasing disconnect between physicians and administration. Salaries for hospitalists are not attractive enough to recruit or retain good physicians. The productivity bonuses are becoming more difficult to achieve because of unattainable quality parameters such as patient satisfaction.

      Cons

Changes made without provider input in offices. Multiple attempts made to discuss with management but no resolution. Can be difficult to get voice heard.
