I worked at Wells Capital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good managers, great team, better than average work environment.

Vacation and PTO is pretty generous.

Decent encouragement of education outside of work.

    Cons

There is definitely office politics, but what place doesn't have some of that.

There idea of progressing up in the company is stymied at certain positions, specific to investment management. For higher up positions, they tend to hire-in, instead of develop their workforce. This is why I switched companies.

    Advice to Management

Try to develop more instead of hiring an unknown commodity. There is even a RFP response stating WFAM rather hire in the experience personnel, instead of developing it.

I have been working at Wells Capital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Full of level-headed, reasonable people. No outrageous expectations. Fairly easy-going culture, great if you aspire for work-life balance. Comp for area is great. Not very hierarchical.

    Cons

Falling under SIFI umbrella can be a headache. Career advancement is a little slow, not the best place if you're looking for somewhere to work extremely hard and speed through the ladder.

    Advice to Management

Create real rewards for your youngest stars rather than simply accelerating our career progression timelines a little.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

    Good PTO, flexible work schedule

    Cons

The company has very little growth opportunity. Some departments are sweat shop like and in general there is a lack of appreciation for their employees. Merit increases are insulting and bonus pay does not increase much if at all over the years, Downsizing and cost consciousness rules. Rarely does senior management mingle with staff and communication is very poor. Don't expect free lunches or perks.

    Advice to Management

    Show appreciation to your staff.
