I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Very down to earth mentality from senior management; one of the few banking environments where career longevity seems like a positive. Strong balance sheet and risk appetite. Excellent credit knowledge.

    Cons

Pay is lower compared to other banks; focus is heavily on lending products and retail. Capital markets division is something that needs to be improved. Internal "chat" function monitors your speech so if you swear, they chastise you. Not a great thing in a banking environment... Can seem less intense than other banks, which may be a negative to type A personalities. Not great employee training, but they are...

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    - Good work/life balance, you're able to work from home after one year of employment - Good benefits - Great culture - Amazing diversity, you get to work with a diverse group of smart individuals

    Cons

    - Limited growth opportunities, you basically would have to seek other companies if you want an advancement (varies by department) - Favouritism - Bullying from a different Department (Belittling One's work, causing loss of confidence) - Limited resources to perform day-to-day job functions. There wasn't a clear sense of direction on what the business was expecting

    Advice to Management

Take care of your people and they'll take care of you: - Develop more frequent one-on-one sessions with your employees - Management should take action of the bullying that was apparent within the workplace - Ask employees for feedback of manager - Make communication a priority

I have been working at Wells Fargo

    Pros

    - job security - compassionate mid-level and upper-level management - pays up to 9% into an RRSP/NRSP (3% default, 6% matched) - good insurance package - free coffee - new offices in some locations - company appears to love diversity & equal opportunity - lots of competent, talented people

    Cons

    - catty Mean Girls/frat boy atmosphere depending on the team you're in - some silent acceptance of racist comments from certain individuals; company as a whole, however, does not espouse this kind of philosophy - unspoken pact among team members that you work over the allotted 7.5 hours/day (or else they will complain) - subtle encouragement to eat at your desk & work through lunch - many rude entry-level workers...

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring babies, get focused, stop being so cheap to your employees, and make it clear that diversity is one of your most important values through means other than through a news bulletin nobody reads. Invest in your employees and train them properly to gain an edge in the market.

I worked at Wells Fargo for more than 2 years

    Pros

Friendly coworkers and nice office setting.

    Cons

Communication was either non-existent or inadequate. HR and managers constantly flip flopped on their decisions. One day they would say one thing, then the next day it was another thing. I was not given adequate resources to perform my job, which by established industry standards was enough work for several people (not just one person).

    Advice to Management

Advice to Management... Close shop in Canada. Advice to Canadian workers: DO NOT WORK FOR WELLS FARGO CANADA... no matter how desperate you are for a job.
