I worked at Wells Fargo as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Some work from home opportunity but that was fraught with peril some times as extensive explanation had to be given as to why you felt the need - even though all work was getting done, and done well.

    Cons

The recent controversy surrounding improper conduct my WF execs tells you all you need to know about this company. Be aware, this was NOT an isolated example of misconduct by WF management and senior staff.

From my personal experience in the Colorado Springs market: Test Management group has no clear goals. They are fighting to prove their worth and most departments I worked with viewed them as pointless and obtrusive. To that end absurd expectations were levied on staff in an effort to justify groups existence. Many team leads (one in particular whose name is the same as a flower) were overbearing, marginally qualified individuals who promoted not because of their skill, but because they were willing to harangue incessantly. Contradictions were common place - but don't dare point them out as this was a first class ticket to trouble.

    Advice to Management

    No point in offering advice.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company for new mortgage loan officers starting out in the mortgage industry. Good leads and great loan programs.

    Cons

Non engaged leadership, too much lip service, no mortgage loan officer support. Too much free admin check the box work to make management look good. Ridiculous expectations for 100% comissioned mortgage loan officers.

    Advice to Management

Take ownership of why you have so many loan officers leaving the company. The company mistakes in the news did not just hurt your customers it hurt your employees. Espessially the front line 100% commissioned loan officers. Many Realtors do not want their name connected to Wells Fargo. Stop trimming fat on the front line 100% commissioned loan officers that receive 1/2 the commission direct lenders get. Start showing the public a living amends with donating more mortgage free homes to disabled Vets and feeding the poor, it is a lot cheeper that all of the lw suites you are paying now for Ghost bank accounts and forced place car insurance.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are a lot of smart people working there. They provide a lot of training.

    Cons

There are many different groups scrutinizing your work and they frequently have different priorities. This is not uncommon in banks but it was particularly acute at Wells. There is a great deal of talk about the strength of the company culture but they treat their employees worse than any other place I've worked during my 20+ year career. Their metrics are arbitrary and punitive in my opinion.

    Advice to Management

Treat people like you would expect to be treated. Recognize that you will get more out of people by treating them like you would like to be treated.
