I have been working at Wells Fargo part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy job that allows you to connect with and help people intimately.

    Cons

It feels like high school. District manager feeds into clique based atmosphere that breeds favoritism. Also, since the scandal broke, there is very little room for growth.

    Advice to Management

Look into the practices of the management staff on the ground level.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Large company that is nationwide so you always have the ability to move.

-Strong support structure in terms of learning and troubleshooting problems. You just need to be able to utilize your resources.

-Benefits are excellent with plenty of choice.

-Hectic environment where you have to balance multiple priorities, customers and employees all while trying to hit your sales goals/ be "green" in service and pass the yearly audit. It forces you to think on your feet and you will grow as a manager.

-Leadership style taught by Wells Fargo is similar to styles taught in other industries so you will be well prepared for the management market if you look for jobs elsewhere.

    Cons

-Extreme micromanagement. You will need to know every little detail about what your employees are doing. Everything is observed including smiling, how they walk to the door, how they look like when they are sitting at their desk, inflection in their voice.

-Super hectic retail environment. As a manager you will be pulled all over the place and are expected to meet every client that the bankers sit with. Be prepared to have no work/life balance.

-Politics. You will have to deal with cliques and you never get the sense that it is one company but several companies broken up by region under the umbrella of Wells Fargo.

-Lack of coherent leadership structure. There are many voices and messages being dispersed. As store manager you never feel that you are truly in charge.
