I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Fast paced, always re-inventing ~ a rewarding place to work. Stable company with 170+ years of history.

    Cons

Q4, 2016 account opening practices resulted in government and media scrutiny; causing the company to move to cost-saving mode in the midst of a re-engineering effort.

    Advice to Management

Continue down the "building better" path for customers, team members and shareholders

I worked at Wells Fargo for more than 5 years

    Pros

There are very smart, savvy people that work in Marketing at Wells Fargo and they are great to work with and collaborate with.

    Cons

Since it's such a huge company, there is a lot of process and it can take forever to get projects launched which can be frustrating.

I have been working at Wells Fargo for more than a year

    Pros

They hire smart people, so there are opportunities to learn from others. Good work - life balance. Safe, diverse, thoughtful environment and peers.

    Cons

Process gets in the way of progress, it takes far too long to get anything accomplished. You won't get cutting edge anything here, exceptionally conservative in all aspects. As a contractor you will not have all the tools you need to do your job well, and it feels designed to be that way.

    Advice to Management

Cut the fat and keep cutting, start at the top. Conservative is good when we're talking risk, but not when we're talking technology - make that more of a priority. Certainly you're trying, but see process comment above.

    Cons

Senior management has good vision but poor direction in how to get there.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Once you get to middle management, the salary and bonus structures are good. Benefits are outstanding, but decreasing and inflexible Remote working options can sometimes be arranged, depending on role and manager

    Cons

Marketing has been removed from the lines of business and centralized under one umbrella. Senior management has imposed the same structure for national brand campaigns as single page flyers. No exaggeration: a net new marketing asset (whether an email or an integrated campaign) will take 9 MONTHS. It will take 4-6 weeks just to get the Strategic Assessment Brief written (and rewritten 3 more times) before it is approved...

    Advice to Management

    1. Staff appropriately. If you want data to drive decisions, but more people in those roles so decisions can be made faster. 2. Allow flexibility within divisions based on their needs. What works for Enterprise Brand may not work for Wholesale/Commercial. 3. Remove layers of the new holistic process so project can move forward more efficiently. 4. Start praising workers who have stuck with the new org structure...

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Opportunity to move around and up -- although it's getting harder since the Wachovia merger and due to cost cutting. Slightly easier if you are a sought-after Millennial. Good benefits, and fairly generous PTO... although they've been pulling back on the latter to save money. Work/life balance

    Cons

More interested in optics that the true toxic culture. Poor leadership/weak management mean lots of lifers who phone it in. (The other face of work/life balance.) There's a lot of mediocrity hiding in plain sight. Cronyism is the norm, enabling many team members to coast.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge the cultural toxicity, which does NOT just thrive in branches, and do something about it. It's at HQ, and in other areas too. Address the cronyism that is rampant, and the weakness of middle-managers -- both are driving away the company's best talent.

    Pros

Opportunity for development, strong management team, large organization with multiple lines of business. Options to transfer within the organization for promotion.

    Cons

Corporate issues with sales practices, reorganizations and downsizing, restrictions on growth imposed by the Federal Reserve.

    Advice to Management

    Keep lines of communication open.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Benefits are great, processes and collaboration are fairly buttoned up. PTO, diversity and generally high calibre Team Members. Many Team Member support activities.

    Cons

The title says it all. For years I worked with this overwhelming sense that I could not really trust the organization. I could not put a finger on it. I was not alone in this - there were many very talented people who ultimately did not want to 'play the game' - a game where the school you went to was more important than the ethical ground you stood when it came to prioritizing customers first. Silent toxicity. Yes, a...

    Advice to Management

Read the cons above. However, am not very confident that you'll really open you eyes. Money does speak. As stewards of money it's imperative that ethical values be ingrained from the inside out (recall our reading of Covey's 7 Habits - or was that just lip service?) - Clear out the top management and really examine the values if you want to sustain the brand. And consider the possibility that 'top' school graduates may...
