I have been working at Wells Fargo part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

As a Teller, my branch always works around my school schedule and encourages me to progress within the company.

    Cons

Given my location, stressful work environment due to a high volume of customers. Very draining after a full day shift with large amounts of attention to detail.

    Advice to Management

Always ensure tellers can interpret customer's account profiles at a quick glance to maximize cross selling opportunities.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Professional atmosphere and learned more about personal finance.

    Cons

As a teller, culture will be dictated by the store branch manager.
It can be tough balancing trying to "sell" products, socializing with the customer to make them feel welcome, and maintaining concentration and accuracy of the task at hand.

    Advice to Management

Do not be too hard on your tellers with regards to selling. It is very difficult to try and sell products or direct customers to a banker because people can see through those tactics.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay makes the stress worth it.

    Cons

Very cliquey!! District managers play favorites so get in good with them. Sales goals are very hard to achieve and you will have to work late to meet branch goals.

    Advice to Management

Realize that people are opening fraudulent accounts just to meet goals.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers and customer were a pleasure to work with. Sales compensation. Solid pay for a relatively sedentary job.

    Cons

The sales goals are high and difficult to meet if aren't willing to put in a lot of effort. A very repetitive customer service role.

    Advice to Management

Try to learn more about your employee's and don't be lazy. I was blessed with a manager who followed the rules and treated me like a person not just a number.

I have been working at Wells Fargo part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-Benefits to full time and part time employees
    -401k company match
-Tuition Reimbursement up to $5000/year for full time employees
    -Relatively Flexible with Scheduling
-Lots of room to grow career

    Cons

-Petty office politics play major role in decision making
-Completely unethical in terms of sales techniques
-Very stingy in annual raises as well as raises for promotions
-Consistently making sales goals harder every year and lowering total bonus payout

    Advice to Management

I started in 2006, this company has changed so much in the last 6 years. The quality of employees has gone down, the pay isn't even competitive for similar jobs (insurance sales, cell phone sales, etc), the constant focus on immediate profit (day to day, quarter to quarter) vs. long term relationship building is hurting the business because customers are getting tired of bankers doing silly things with their accounts just to fulfill a meaningless goal. At this point customers are catching on to the smoke and mirrors and won't even sit with bankers unless they have to. My advice: restructure salary/incentives to attract better quality employees and re-evaluate bonus structure to make it profitable for bankers to actually do the right thing for the customer, not what will get them their numbers for the day.

    Pros

    - Commercial Banking Industry Experience
    - Fast Paced environment
    - Health, Dental, PTO Benefits

    Cons

    - Middle Management bias
    - Micro-managing of all employees
    - Little to no job growth
    - Hostile corporate culture created from fierce competition within bankers
    - No support from Banking store manager or District Manager

    Advice to Management

Hire managers that have banking experience and a manger that will sit down to coach their tellers, Personal and Premier Bankers, also have a District Manager that's willing to sit down to both the manager and personal banker if any conflict occurs or it can go directly to HR. Maybe that's why there's a high employee turnover and clients closing their accounts.
