I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

The WF brand is recognized worldwide. Lots of marketing materials, user-friendly origination system that interacts with clients well, good medical/dental benefits, 401k, etc.

    Cons

The brand is tarnished which makes it very difficult to establish new relationships with referrals sources. (Realtors HATE WF.) Extreme preferential treatment with a small handful of Mortgage Loan Officers which makes for a toxic and resentful environment. A few loan officers are allowed to take large price hits and make crazy loan exceptions which enable them to fund $100+ million/year. This allows WF to have a few LOs...

    Advice to Management

Level the playing field for ALL LOs (retail or PMB) and if you are going to allow price and/or guideline exceptions, offer that privilege to ALL LOs. Not just the “favorites.”

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Brand name helped to drive in leads.

    Cons

Wells is too large of a financial institution to compete with smaller mortgage companies. Too many overlays and processes in place to get anything done.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Awesome reputable bank with excellent products for consumers

      Cons

Lots of time spent on overseeing processing due to overload. Of course in this business when it rains it pours so always hard to balance the staffing. Overall good place to work.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (Less than a year)

      Pros

Benefits are pretty good. Nice people to work with at my location.

      Cons

Wells Fargo does not pay Loan officer holiday or sick pay. You can take it but it comes out of your draw, so really not paid time off whatsoever. Recommend if you are new to banking.

      Advice to Management

      Treat loan offices equally.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

Great medical benefits and 401K plan

      Cons

Career advancement Low salary compared to peer companies Low team member (employee) morale No meritocracy Job stability Political

      Advice to Management

Fire the Board and all the legacy members of the Executive Committee. Until you do, the regulators will never stop pursuing Wells Fargo. And all your team member's jobs are in jeopardy.
