I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Move up quickly in the company.

    Cons

interesting time of transition for the company, unsure what the future holds.

    Advice to Management

Do away with the new journal system. Specialized bankers do not need to be checked up on every single day.

I worked at Wells Fargo (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very stimulating, rewarding, and challenging environment. You'll work with great people in a very collaborative manner.

    Cons

People are put into boxes - a natural consequence of a large publicly traded organization. A majority of employees who work there that make significant salaries either started their career there, left and came back, or were recruited in.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be more channels to help promote within the firm. This way you will not lose so many employees to competitors.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They will never fire you, much like the Post Office

    Cons

Inefficient, redundant, low salary compared to market, and an aging population (260k employees total) of obsolete 2nd rate employees hiding behind their tenure and the strength of the brand. The institution got it right in 2009 and employees love touting that they were a giant in the land of dwarfs during the financial crisis. Overall, if you're young, talented, or even half way competent, go work somewhere else.

    Advice to Management

    Wake up

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

WF really takes care of it's employees. They are a relationship based lender and this attitude works its way down through the entire corporate culture.

    Cons

WF is BIG! No, HUGE. You can easily get lost in the sea of people and when it comes down to it, unless you are a top performer (talking 1-5%) you are really a small fish in a big pond (more like an ocean).

    Advice to Management

Try to engage the lower lever employees and empower them. I have seen lots of turnover and it all comes back to the fact that people do not feel valued. Have more company outings, happy hours, whatever it takes to make people feel as if they are part of a team.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than a year)

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Energetic retail sales environment, diverse work environment, potential for growth throughout different departments, well-known company in the industry, numerous locations

    Cons

Incentive compensation plan is not great, high turnover in the retail sales sector, favoritism exists, some personal bankers are out for their own personal agendas, salary not enough to compensate for the stress brought upon by unreasonable sales goals

    Advice to Management

Have the Retail Managers, and the District Managers re-read the Vision and Values brochure to ensure that the company is really "customer-centric, and not product-centric." Stores may say they do things right the first time for the customer, but the reality is that the unreasonable daily sales goals promote a product-centric environment that eventually deteriorates the relationships the company has already built with the existing clients. Customers are thanked for their long relationships, but some bankers don't respect it enough, and try to sell more checking or savings accounts that the customer doesn't need. By the time the client sits down with another banker after a bad experience, the high-valued clients no longer trust him or her.
