I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great training and ability to grow in your career. Their focus on career development and training really sets you up to succeed. The competitive sales environment also motivates you to excel through rewards and compensation.

    Cons

If you're not onto "sales" (referring customers, offering bank products and services) you may be able to get by but you are limiting yourself to higher compensation and growth potential.

    Advice to Management

Quit hiring "cute" tellers that are bimbos and can't do simple math or balance their till.

I have been working at Wells Fargo (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - new positions always open. never have to wait long to move to an in branch role such as lead teller, personal banker, etc.
    - decent starting pay compared to other industries

    Cons

    - hard to move up the corporate ladder after branch manager. requires a lot of brown nosing
    - wayyy too many politics. doing your job well isn't usually enough.
    - crazy sales pressure
    - pretty terrible pay after personal banker

    Advice to Management

Care about your employees and their living conditions. There's no work/life balance, and the wages for branch employees are extremely low for how much you ask of them.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Competitive pay and benefits
Opportunity for advancement if you are mobile

    Cons

After the merger with Wachovia, the company culture completely changed. Wells Fargo no longer values its long time employees; profit is the sole driving force for this company. "Visions, Values, Strategies" used to be foundation of the corporation, but are just nice words now.

    Advice to Management

Return to the Wells Fargo culture. Value your employees for the contributions they have made to the company and for the dollars you have invested in them in development.

    Pros

Huge company with many different career path opportunities. Great benefits and financially solvent. Excellent long term employer.

    Cons

Starting pay is lower than norm. Only way to get acknowledged at the retail level is by the quantity of your sales numbers.

    Advice to Management

Great managers are defined not only by the production of the branch but the loyalty & support of all subordinates.

Recognize the difference between a manager and a LEADER.
