I worked at Wells Fargo part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was able to work around school.

    Cons

I know that every branch is different but from what I observed at mine, management needs improvement and leadership training. There were cliques, gossip, short breaks, and it was an overall toxic work environment. I couldn't put in my two weeks quick enough.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to be everyone's friend! People show up whenever they want or don't show up at all. Managers are gossiping to other coworkers/subordinates about everyone's business. I felt like I was in middle school. It was not a professional environment.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The WF brand is recognized worldwide. Lots of marketing materials, user-friendly origination system that interacts with clients well, good medical/dental benefits, 401k, etc.

    Cons

The brand is tarnished which makes it very difficult to establish new relationships with referrals sources. (Realtors HATE WF.) Extreme preferential treatment with a small handful of Mortgage Loan Officers which makes for a toxic and resentful environment. A few loan officers are allowed to take large price hits and make crazy loan exceptions which enable them to fund $100+ million/year. This allows WF to have a few LOs on the Scotsman Guide each year. Your base hourly rate becomes a recoverable draw (which is illegal) and if you have a small funding month, you will actually OWE the company money the following month to reimburse them your hourly wage. If you are a Mortgage LO, run. You will actually hurt your career.

    Advice to Management

Level the playing field for ALL LOs (retail or PMB) and if you are going to allow price and/or guideline exceptions, offer that privilege to ALL LOs. Not just the “favorites.”

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Starting pay for entry level position; Benefits for part time employees

    Cons

Retail Banking is poorly ran by incompetent management. Lower level team members are the reason why Wells Fargo is still in business.

    Advice to Management

Promote people that are competent and has the drive to succeed and not because of "seniority." There are people that can do the job better than people that met minimum job requirements.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time

    Pros

I don't have anything to say

    Cons

Abusive management, abusive testing process that no one should go thru. The company and management intentionally try to destroy employees moral. Management and HR work together and you are helpless. VP and his management team are close friends. They work together and they support one another. You can not complain about your manager to VP. If you do, you get fired. It has happened.

    Advice to Management

You shouldn't think only to fatten up your wallet. You have duties to act fairly and honestly. VP stop being friends with your managers. You are in a position to lead. By hiring your close friends to be your managers, you are not doing what is best for the company but for yourself so they will protect you. Integrity and honesty is best policy.

The company was struggle after the incident that the clients turned their back on the company, and Wells is working to get their clients back. Therefore, work had slowed down

    Advice to Management
