I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Teach and promote from within. Very supportive of all diversity; most active diversity council. Whole company spends 2 weeks doing charitable fundraising and volunteer work. Can spend your entire career here and do different jobs each couple of years. Great education and commuter subsidies

    Cons

At the time, lack of ability to work remotely for most. That may have changed by now. Culture was somewhat old-fashioned.

    Advice to Management

Work-life balance; focus on benefits that provide flexibility. Keep up the support of diversity and charitable giving. More matching of employee giving but that may have changed, too

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Worked with some very professional people while there.
    - Stable technical infrastructure.
    - Challenging projects.

    Cons

    - Timelines sometimes ignored when very strong evidence to push back was presented from a Technical perspective. Later it came back to bite.
    - A clear separation between contractors and FTE's appeared after purchase of Wachovia. Contractors were sometimes placed away, other side of a room or floor, from FTE team members that they once sat beside. Practice decreased the value of a cohesive work environment.
    - 18 Month Rule: After 18th months of contracting...so long for 6 mths. They loose a lot of knowledge capital as well as critical project time to onboard and have new contractor up to speed.

    Advice to Management

Dump the "18 Month Rule" and just hire quality personnel. Shift them from line of business to line of business as needed. Abandoning this rule would prevent the local market from being over flooded with unemployed workers and its negative effects on the local economy. It’s not rocket science...it’s just banking.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This company gave me the freedom I needed to succeed and thrive, even letting people access Facebook of all sites on the Internet. I didn't feel too constrained. The technology was good and most of my co-workers were pretty smart.

    Cons

Now that my role is over, I am trying to get another job at Wells and it's hard to even get an interview.

    Advice to Management

Give outside candidates to your company some consideration, speed up the hiring process. It is slow. I will have another job before you interview me.
