I have been working at Wells Fargo (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Opportunity to work on a very diverse team with members across the world. - Exposure to large scale application development where multiple teams collaborate from different angles on one project - Challenging innovations and exposure to some modern trends in design - Friendly and involved management with realistic goals - An understanding of the importance of security and quality assurance helping to facilitate creating...

    Cons

    - Bureaucracy creates a layer of obfuscation that can be cumbersome to navigate or understand. - Delays in the project due to how slow funding and tech support is due to the bureaucracy. - Funding problems put contractors and intellectual assets at risk due to losing people when there are shortages and gaps.

    Advice to Management

Understand that people are assets that can not be as 'plug and play' as the applications we create. When you lose someone with inherit knowledge of a system it can take upwards of a month for someone else to get up to the same speed once you even find the appropriate person. With that in mind funding should be secured at least a month before the end of a project with planed weaning of contractors. For the most part...

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Extremely relaxed pace at which to do work.

    Cons

Kills my passion for software engineering.

    Advice to Management

When someone tells you they are really good at something, just let them do it. Management does not use the strengths of their employees at all.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good work life balance and good benefits. 25 days of time off after 3 years of service.

    Cons

Since the start of their cyber security kick about 3 years ago, my division has been in a downward trajectory and far more stressful. Everything is harder to do and requires an “Office Space” level of redundant process to do. Management continues to to believe that all employees, regardless of job function, are exactly the same. They then criticize staff for not doing work due to lack of access to systems that developers...

    Advice to Management

If you choose to practice strict cyber security you need to hire the staff and have the policy to efficiently execute it. The one-size-fits-all IT policy is a disaster.

    Cons

    - very large corporation and entry level or associate level corporate workers are barely recognized beyond their name for the first year - severely lacking transparency from management about company decisions - no heads up where managers should probably share need to know items with their staff - no place for advancement unless you have put in 5 years - ambition to learn is not appreciated - also, there is a pending...

    Advice to Management

    - stop making the corporate feel worse than it already is with your cheap bureaucratic dialog; it gives folks false hope and makes them trust you when you don't deserve it in the slightest. - this isn't a car dealership; quit using sales tactics on your employees to steal their ideas and turn around and axe them when you're done with them
